Tonight - do not forget...

Who can forget ?

Who can forget that memorable season – those fantastic victories- the final home match and those celebrations – Bocelli singing- players and fans post match celebrations … a party that lasted for days. Then a quarter of a million people celebrating that open top tour – Kasabian gigs- pure unadulterated joy –not only in Leicester but around the world- Premier League Champions.

Yes our club –our provincial city – our fans part of a story and achievement that will live for generations.

Ordinary hard working professional footballers given a structure and a confidence to take on all comers and leave the superstars of big clubs like Arsenal Man U Man City etc in their wake.

And amidst it all this quiet cultured Italian – unfailingly courteous – to press, officials , other managers and always with time and affection for the fans and the city in which he worked.

I remember seeing him days into his appointment at an academy match at Loughborough Dynamo –could not believe it … but yes he was there talking to players, parents –supporters as though this was San Siro or Nou Camp.

I remember particularly some away wins –WBA Man City Everton Newcastle – just my own store of recollections from a season and man I will never forget. Mr 40 points ….. I remember.

He attended scores of charity events around the city – and clearly basked in the love of the fans which he reciprocated. That quiet almost shy acknowledgement from the touchline as the crowd chanted the Ranieri song.

My last memory is of a broken but still proud man – leaving the Belvoir facility – unaccompanied to his car – still courteous to stupid press questions at the exit… and finally still willing to accommodate fans at his front door –wanting a selfie.

So this man who gave me and so many others so much enjoyment has to leave and we cannot pay our respects and affection.

So who could forget

Clearly the owners who basked and preened in the success of last season – and rubbing shoulders with the elite in the European Champions Cup where – can you believe it- we are a one –nil home win away from the last 8 in the competition. Yes Leicester City ... but shortly after your statement of unqualified support and amidst murky and clandestine discussions he was dumped

Clearly the players – those everyday hard working professionals –metamorphised by huge contracts , and exposure to celebrity magazines etc into believing they actually were superstars. What they didn’t do was put a shift in where it mattered – on the pitch but sought refuge in cliques and grumblings and willing ears were at hand……

So Claudio Ranieri – you at least leave with reputation intact and I hope that sometime during the match tonight we will find the time as fans –football supporters- to send you a message of thanks… for the good times

Ciao Claudio

CoE theres no smoke without fire to believe everything in the press as truth is as stupid as believing everything that Shakey and players say is.
Somewhere between the two is right. No player dis's his former boss he might want to play for him again.
No the players want NP back i doubt it unless they fear for themselves under a new regime.
Tonight is as BS a lose lose for them. Play well everone will say why did you not do that before and if they are still abject then well you get it.

I'm no expert but liars dont tend to sound so sincere. There was nothing about Shakey's or Schmeichels interviews that gave me the slightest doubt. I also totally believe Albrighton and his wife. Maybe you see their sincerity differently to me?

I have no ulterior motive though and if anything I've gone from believing the players backstabbed him to believing they didn't.

The best why to lie is to not answer the question. Also why should they tell the truth CR lied or hide the truth as all managers did. It does not matter now.
Funnily enough i do believe Albrightons answer but if you where as cynical as you believe i am you might say they are using their so sad personal circumstances BUT i do believe him.
It's done and everyone has to live with themselves including CR about what they have or have not done.
But lines we weren't responsibly for getting the managers sacked is the truth thats down to the owners influencing the decision is another matter.

It really is over now i am more concerned who we get next this is my club and i won't be gloating over any failure of players or management.

The way I see it, or what I believe to be true, is the owners did call a meeting and during that meeting they asked what's going wrong and they would have answered honestly.

I don't class that as stabbing him in the back, things weren't working and telling the truth about those things is the reason he was sacked. They had lost confidence in his ability to get them out of this mess but not for one minute do I think they did this on purpose. If the owners asked you to tell the truth in that situation what would you do? Would you lie to save someone's job who you didn't think could turn things around or would you tell the truth? The owners calling a meeting would be totally pointless if the truth wasn't going to be spoken. This is their business and their money so they don't want people lying to them when those lies can cost them over £100m.

Klopp says LCFC Players didn't get Ranieri sacked. Following reports of a squad 'mutiny' forcing Claudio Ranieri out, Jurgen Klopp gives an alternative view of the situation.
The German brings his Liverpool side to the King Power tonight, but says there is no chance of the players being powerful enough to oust Ranieri.
"Players are not more powerful. We were much more powerful in the past," said Klopp. "It depends always on the board.
“It is not about how powerful [the players are]. The players need to be powerful but not in sacking managers. It’s not like the Leicester players did it. It is if someone asked, they gave an answer."
