Hold on, why do you say that, have you seen specs?
The launch trailer is clearly the remastered version,
The cart size is easily big enough for the remastered version,
The remastered version has been shown running on a tablet with lesser specs than the switch
And then there is the somewhat Dodgy Twitter leak where the account was subsequently deleted.
Some people do take a perverse joy in trying to run Nintendo down/lower expectations, but it all seems to point towards the remastered version at the moment, even the interview where they refused to clarify is pretty standard in the game industry
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not at all..quite the reverse actually. We are being subjective..I wasn't overly keen on the switch but have come around. Although I won't be buying one this year because as it stands with very little worthwhile titles for the most part of a year it's way overpriced....like most consoles. If the quality of games improves then I will get one next year when it more.value for money. Ps it's not customary to keep quiet about something in this industry quiet unless it's something gamers don't want to hear...I agree with Simon in regards to Skyrim but hope I am wrong.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This. If i could find away to get the money together and find one for less than $1000 I would buy one know. Watching all these Zelda videos is excruciating and not being able to play it is horrible. Thats my heart and gamer side. My head is saying wait a couple of years for this thing to bomb and pick it up on the cheap with the handful of required playing games as this is Nintendo and they dont listen to the public. Now I am more than happy to be proven wrong, but ive been part of this for 30 years, and can say im pretty good at predicting these type of things (just go ask Amiga about our VR discussion). I will also change my opinion in a second if something changes that is significant. But im big enough and old enough to put the brakes on things, I waited over a year to buy a PS4 as there were no games and the best games were still available on the PS3 - does that mean I hate PS4? Hell no....I love the thing. But at the point of purchase is the Xbone looked the better console I would have bought that.
Same with the Scorpio. Do I want one, yep. Heart is saying $400 PS4 killer. Head is saying $600 door stop that will have 0 support from the devs due to low buying numbers. And again cyptic interviews are telling me im right. When people are saying "This is the most powerful PREMIUM console" and "We are going to charge how much we think a PREMIUM console is worth" and their current top end console is sitting at $399 you gotta feel a PS3esque disater is on the cards.

Again I tend to agree Simon, I never bothered with PS4 til about a year after its release. The problem I have with the Scorpio and Pro is that they will never truly get the most out of them anyway as long as they are still developing the same games for the standard PS4 and Xbone money talks and there is no way they would seperatley develop the games to get the very most out of the Scorpio and PS Pro... To me its just a graphics upgrade and slightly faster load times. and just not worth it (unless u dont have a console already that is)

One thing I love about the Switch is how quickly the systems boots up, and your up and running playing the game within seconds, no installing with no or bare minimum loading. The OS is so smooth and fast. I own an xbox one too and grew absolutely sick of the crappy slow operating system, lag, slow load times and waiting hours to install games before I could play it. It's been catching dust for the past few months.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
This.
For anyone who has used emulators on Pc it's like "save state" you turn the console back on and within seconds are at the point at which you turned the console off.
I. E. You don't close the software, you press the power button. When you press it again, boom, instantly back to where you were even after a 20 hour break.
It saves a LOT of time
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Or like the PS4? Or the Vita, or the 3DS? Christ this was my pause button for the Blood Souls game
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You are talking about hitting the home buttons, I'm talking about turning the console off.
For instance I turned my switch off last night, at the wall, it's taken longer for my smart TV to switch on than it has to get back to the EXACT point I was at in my game, without having bothered to save it, I'm not talking last save point, start of the area etc, I mean paragliding off a cliff.
As far as I'm aware there is no way to make my Ps4 do this.
And unfortunately when you say "wait for this thing to bomb" it makes you seem very anti Nintendo, people have been predicting the demise of Nintendo since the 64 and they have ALWAYS been profitable.
At this point it seems more like hope they will fail, I've never hoped Sony will fail despite switching between them and Xbox twice the last three generations (no ps3 at all, no xbone)
We can see the games are coming, and the price always drops after 6 months, and when it's the same price with bundled games you should absolutely pick one up.
It will be interesting to see how the next gen of consoles handle this switch to carts which works well for me, faster loading times, no need for installations and thus lower Console costs with smaller hdd, negligible cost margin over optical media.
I can see Microsoft going this way but will so try give up proprietary media, they are essentially now Nintendo in the pre n64/psone era...

Sleep mode my friend......hold the home button. Sleep. Home button turns on and your in EXACTLY the same place.
Always been profitable but it doesnt take away the fact that every system since then has bombed except the wii. And why does using historical fact sound like I want it to fail? You are soundinhly over protective - im simply looking at the evidence.
1) Marketed poorly (as a home console)
2) Still not really seeing any 3rd party support
3) Expensive when considering point 1)
4) Apart from Mario what exclusives are you getting? After Mario what then? Metroid in 2019 and maybe Donkey Kong at the end of the cycle?
5) Home console not working
6) Nintendo Online is still so far behind PS+ or Gold
7) Gimmicky tech that will like all console gimmicky tech be used in exactly 3 games over the life cycle of the console.
Nintendo has an amazing piece of kit with amazing first party software but unless you can show me any evidence of Nintendo well not be Nintendo history will repeat itself again. They need to turn this around asap as the Switch should be a viable option for peoples 1st console not their secondary. Limited software support AGAIN will kill the console again profitable or not. And this is steeped in history: psp, vita, dreamcast, all the nintendo console post n64. Some where the best hardware available - bombed badly as there was no software support.
PS there is no switch *clicks fingers* to carts. Will be disc media until it eventually moves all digital.

So couple of intetesting tidbits:
1) The dock doesnt actually give any extra cooling - all is done in the system. So basically playing handheld while plugged in could/should give a power boost
2) There will be consoles real soon with more onboard memory

Sleep mode loses your place if it's powered off at the mains no? I've not actually used it on my ps4
1) I've pretty much only used mine as a home console and wouldn't play it as a mobile device, therefore it's a home console.
2) 3rd party support will be there as they have been directed away from 3ds which had bags and bags of 3rd party support (see monster hunter which the switch will certainly get)
3) it's not expensive, the release prices of Ps4 and xbone were higher, PS3 was a whopping £500 without even taking in to account inflation since then..
4) remastered Mario kart, xenoblade 2, splatoon 2 (huge interest in it as an E sport, and possibly the best shooter in some time), fire emblem, fire emblem warriors (koei tecmo), octopath Travellers (square Enix), shin megami, shovel Knight expansion (timed exclusive), street fighter (capcom) announced so far
1st party and 3rd party mix without including the release titles (arms, BOTW, fast RMX, bomberman R)
That's excluding many Nintendo IPs that will get a release and as mentioned, games like monster hunter which appears on most Nintendo systems.
5) I agree totally, it was rushed to coincide with BOTW, a few things fell behind, but Nintendos online has always been charmingly different.. No prepubescent screaming 11year olds that have all "fecked your mum " for one...
As for gimmicky tech that's been thrown at Nintendo every generation, but the entirety of the Ps4 and xbone controller were Nintendo "gimmicks" at one time or another
I'm not even sure what's gimmicky about the current controller?

Thank you for making my point. This exact conversation took place with the release of the Wii U and the Nintendo fan boys came out with the exact same BS, and this is my problem with modern day Nintend - nothing changes. Seriously they suck it up as much as the Apple fan boys....
Dude I hope youre right, unfortunately youve shown me nothing other than that which is muttered in mantra every time a new Nintendo system comes out

Making your point by refuting every, one you put forward and in a way that couldn't have applied at any point to the Wii u? (a good console and I miss the dual screens for maps/inventory sorting)
You also didn't answer my question regarding sleep mode, as I have a Ps4 I wasn't aware it would stasis my games while powered off at the wall? I'm assuming it doesn't as there is no battery like the switch, so it's not quite the same feature.
