The whole payment to leave thing, I guatantee that if the company you were working for was going out of business you would make sure they paid you every penny they owed you, but because kewell did it, and because we all love leeds, we hate him for that.

Smithy didn't take his 7-figure sum from the club when he left and people still hate him.
Perhaps it's a case of "you can't win" in those situations, but there is ABSOLUTELY NO excuse for him going to Gala. None. He was talented enough to go to most clubs in the world, club not in a rush to sell him (like it was with Smith when he went to Manu) and he chose THAT one.

Kewell - undoubtedly talented in his day. Also undoubtedly is greedy in the extreme, has no morals, has an ego the size of the planet and doesn't give a stuff about any fan or any club.

One of my all time favorite players. Such skill and intelligence. Too bad he was an absolute asswhole.

Life is to short to harbour real grudges. However, rather than look fondly on his time at Leeds United and his role in what and should have been another classic team, I just think of someone ill-advised and greedy.

Shame.

Genuinely don't care about the money, all I care about is he joined THEM! He played that night in Istanbul and still had the ghoul to play for THEM, I hate him as much now as I did then, what an utter ncut, completely disrespected Kevin and Christopher and all of the Leeds fans around the world. Hate him.

There are no excuses for what he did, none whatsoever.
Football isn't JUST a job at all. He was nurtured by the club as a kid and a young man. Loved, respected and admired, made famous and wealthy too.
Lowlife.

On a personal level, the man is and has always been a selfish arrogant idiot with no concern for others. You could say he is a functioning psychopath...but wait psychopaths are charming.

I remember the times he refused to play properly because he was sulking so much.

The fact there is a thread about him on here is more than he deserves. A total and utter k un t of the highest order.

I had 2 beautiful shirts from our Puma days with 10 Kewell on the back.

I could never wear them again after the way he handled his exit from Leeds and subsequent move to Turkey and his lame justification.

I later donated the shorts to a manu fan raising funds for his disabled son.

Kewell was a huge talent for Leeds, probably the most talented in the last 25 years, but what a see you next tuesday of a person.
