Brentford 0 v 1 Huddersfield Town

SkyBet Championship

Brentford v Huddersfield Town
Sat March 11, KO 15:00pm at Griffin Park

I thought I'd try something different and reflect on the match thread I did at the beginning of the season. To see how relevant things are now, compared to the first match of the season against the Bees on August 6 2016.

'Whoa Wagner, please slow down! The Town manager has been extremely quick in building the squad up. He has wasted no time in bringing in the new recruits, they've had a good chunk of time to settle in and to get to know their teammates better. Well done Mr Wagner, top of the class!'

I think we can suggest overall all the players have done a great job so far, will this season end in promotion?

'Congratulations to the season card holders, over 15,000 took advantage of the offer and the players should be entering a noisier stadium this season. Get behind the team and be vocal!'

Well, the noise levels have cranked up for the home games and the gates have been very impressive!

'Now then, will Town make Brentford pay for the totally embarrassing ninety minutes, which was claimed to be the final match of the 2015/16 season? I'm still miffed, the only game I watched since returning to Perth in 2012 and they let me down badly. It was awful, but every cloud...'

Town won the encounter 2-1 (August 6 2016)

'Wagner has obviously made it a priority to focus on the defence, as we all know, it was a shambles last term. Has he paid enough attention in attack though? Wells has been struggling with an injury, or is he being prepared for a last minute exit with a big price tag, it depends on who you listen to or believe. Kachunga has made a decent start in the blue and white shirt, but is he a goal getter? Yes, some lads in midfield should contribute, especially Mooy and Palmer, but will it be enough?'

So, has the defence improved? There has been some dodgy moments, but overall, I suggest the defenders have stabilised things, but they do seem not as settled as they were earlier in the season. Which seems to defy logic, they should be rock solid now.

Midfield, DON'T GO THERE LV69! Izzy doing very well, Palmer was too until his injury. VLP, a mystery man! Mooy, Hogg, solid performer. Billing, coming on. Lolley, maybe needs more time. Bunn, hmmm. Scannell, who?

Still not enough goals being scored by the strikers either, even with the introduction of Quaner.

'Hopefully, the players can notch some early points, competing in some tough early encounters with ex Premiership opponents. If they can find the net and they keep the rear guard intact, they should be fine!'

Well, I wasn't predicting a promotion push, I thought they would be nice and safe from relegation, which they are!

Alright folks, lets have some lively debates, but be warned...any childish behaviour or foul mouthed comments will result in a

This means Leeds fans too!

I'd love a new stadium 🏟, and leave them to it. It's never felt like "home" any way.

I'm on with it Hydy.....
pre draft...
Undercover - but clear.(no open corners)
Built in rail/bus connection.
'safe' standing areas.
Classic Roman/Greek Facade,
padded seating,
Orientated to minimize shade on the playing surface.

Absolutely NO corrugated iron, bare concrete or painted block work...

We'll move into a 'home'.... Not a stadium

Just get rid of the midgets ( giants), change the red seats for white ones, making it blue & white stripes... Easy..

Hey Darn, those lads nearly threw points away, silly penalty to give away, but a spawny winning goal got them back on track.

Played very well though, some nice football, when is the next homebred star coming through though?

Rowett to DERBY. !
Will they improve ? He has a month to get them into shape for our visit.
Pardew 'not in running for Norwich;.

Lets see Tony Mowbray's Rovers stun Fulham tonight.

30 month contract .

Like Warburton, did well at Brentford, shame all these teams are getting new managers,we should be grateful that Johnson is still at Bristol, still, I don't fear anyone, they fear us more.

They could have had the decency to keep their old managers until after we've played them. So inconsiderate 😡
