Rovers v Plymouth

I will go Rovers 2 Plymouth 2 Marquis to score. Crowd 8995

Plymouth did what they do well and parked their bus with immaculate skill. I suppose they treated us like Liverpool. And even scored a goal.

No complaints. Good goal from a corner and then immaculate defending. It is one of our best performances but we just couldn't get the ball past the defence and goalie. No red cards, no injuries, no sweat.

Disappointed.
Plymouth did the job they set out do with more than a little help from the ref who certainly needs a new watch on Fathers Day.
Last Home game 26 i thouhght and said was outstanding.
I await your honest report hound.

As above.
Plymouth are obviously also a very good side and played how I expected them to.
Their keeper made four top saves in the game.
Without having seen any replays, why didn't Lawlor go for the floated corner from which they score?
We thought he could have gone and used his height to shove the ball out towards the right back position.
I thought that all our players did ok today but no one in particular had a blinder, maybe Marquis for me was our best on the day.
May looked out of his depth but that isn't a skit at him coz he did his best.
Early on it looked like the ref was giving all the decisions to Plymouth but that settled down and he was ok.
We are still top though and I still reckon we will stay there but it is a bit tighter now of course.

Agree the keeper perhaps should have done better.
I thought the only times we looked dangerous was when Blair n Rowe had the ball at their feet running at the Plymouth defence.
Totally agree May looked out of his depth but again not having a go at him.
One for the boo boys I think we would have a better shape with Evina at L.back.
Marquis worked so had with little reward he was having to come so deep to get the ball.
Luke Mcullock looked quality when he came .
Butler n Boudry where brave against strong Plymouth forwards.
Williams should have come on earlier.
Mc sheffery did ok when he came on.
Grant ok.
Mason ok in middle gave ball away as normal when played out of position.
If have missed anyone off they must have been shocking.
Where was that player who was class and outstanding last home game?

Think what is was down to today was, shocking finishing and a @#$/ing keeper.
Thought Lawlor could of come for the cross but seen it on highlights and Butler lost him, then a bullet header. Thought our bigger players didn't turn up today.
May should of gone off at H/T.
Copps missed two great chances.
Marquis would of scored against any other keeper in this league. @#$/er.
Matty going forward gave them a headache, couldn't handle him.
Highlight of the game gorgeous me was big Mac came on to play in front of the back 3. Every ball was forward, even though some went astray it's good to have two players at the back who want to play it forward quicker and not side to side.
Still think we'll win league, they'll lose a few games before end of season.
Onwards n upwards.

I don't think Grant contributes as much as he did last season. He doesn't seem to want to get fully involved. Marquis was forced to work more in the supply chain rather than right at the sharp end because for once Copps did not really play his usual part. Perhaps DF SHOULD have shuffled his pack. Mandeville would surely have provided a bit of flair together with McCullough instead of providing the line-up which enabled Plymouth to e histrionics and was is very dependent on his left footwas McCormick MoM?

Well, that was sent before editing and I can't be bothered to rework it!

I now have the energy to clarify what I intended to say last night. That is that playing unchanged for the sixth time meant that Plymouth were able to plan exactly how to deal with us and perhaps we should have varied our approach.

They defended better than Lithuania did. Either they managed to get 3 or 4 bodies between the shot and the goal or they cleared it nearly always safely, sometimes only a short distance, but to a part of the penalty area where there were none of our players. Not pretty to watch even for their fans, but a definite skill.

I suppose we have watched Man C trying to penetrate numerous resolute defences with not a great deal more more success after the opposition have grabbed an early goal. Perhaps we might study the techniques, but then again it does not make watching your team doing it much fun. Plymouth were just the same against Mansfield with only 2 shots on goal and 2 goals.

It seems a bit desperate for the second-in-the-table to come for a draw. To now talk of going for the title is rather a switch in objectives for a side that arrived with less ambition than Notts County and Cheltenham.

I suppose too that McCormick has been the outstanding opposition goalkeeper this season even though it's not easy to admit it.
