Can't find any info but got news from English football in the 70's on my FB page. Hope the media pick up on this as it would be sad not to recognise someone who served the club for a decade mainly as backup to Bonetti.
Sad day if true as another boyhood player passes away
RIP Sticks
John Phillips RIP

A TRUE legend some would say.

btw English Football in the 70's is a good nostalgic look at those days.I watched a good few Derby County games and it reminded me of what a great team they had back then

Very good keeper Bov. As you said, he'd have played many more games for us if he hadn't been at the club the same time as The Cat.
Tragic he should be taken so young!
Which FB group did you see it on, Memories of going to Chelsea in the Seventies?

Wikipedia says he died in LATE APRIL , so not this year it would seem. Would have been a mere 65 years young

Can't find anything about his exact date of death but it only appeared on the club website yesterday so must be within the last few days!

Sorry guys, late on this, but RIP John Phillips, I remember him as a very competent keeper who didn't let us down and far too good to be a number 2 backup IMO.
