Apathy.
It's a cruel thing for a football fan to endure. We spend our football supporting lives bouncing from unbridled joy to deep depression to quiet satisfaction and great uncertainty. To then descend into apathy is a difficult thing to endure. To no longer look forward to 3pm on a Saturday, to no longer care about results and selections and everything else that goes with supporting your team.
I'm falling into apathy now. I'm looking forward to the season being over. We are a nothing team now, with no endearing qualities bar the odd flash of Andreu magic that is ultimately bittersweet because in my opinion his signing is the main cause of the imbalance in the squad.
I was away for the final so it had very little impact on me, and I sense it had little impact on many of our supporters. League results continue to underwhelm. Our form is terrible and it's hard to see where any spark is going to come from. We have nobody in the team who inspires.
We'll probably hold on to a play off place, and then we'll ultimately lose either at the first or second hurdle. I have no confidence we could beat either Morton or Falkirk over two legs, never mind a Premiership team. In many ways I'd rather lose to the second placed team than face another relegation game against a Dundee team who would still beat us comfortably, regardless of their debacle on Friday night.
In team news, we signed someone last week. I'm not sure what his name is. He's a 21 year old CB/CM. I think he was on Man City's books as a youngster. He featured in our win against Ayr then wasn't in the squad at the weekend.
The Chairman has taken a loan from some guy in the States, with it secured against Gussie Park. People have had kittens about this. I don't really know though as I try to tune out the Social Media warriors now.
Speaking of which, this new fans group has mumped about the fact the chairman won't speak to them. I wouldn't either. I'm willing to give them time to see if they are actually serious and if they actually have any kind of serious plan. I'm not hopeful.
Meh. Mon the Terrors. I suppose.

Heart and soul has been ripped out of the club

i don't know what apathy means and I couldn't care less.
The problem for me is that the chairman and the manager are sucking the lifeblood out of the club.
ST is financially inept and Mackinnon is coming across as stubborn and unwilling to change.
Accepts no responsibility and continually blames the players.

"i don't know what apathy means and I couldn't care less."
If that was a joke, well played.

I have been disappointed with McKinnon over the last couple of months. I don't understand many of his decisions and he doesn't seem to be able to stop the rot and at least get the team solid again.

Hobo - it was a joke. 😊
Ivan, the problem that I'm seeing is that Mackinnon is unable or unwilling to accept that he is ultimately responsible for what happens on the pitch.
I've never heard him admit to making a wrong decision but isn't slow to publicly criticise the players.
All most of us were looking for this season was some evidence that we were back on the right track for possible promotion this year and if not then really up for it next year.
For me we've gone backwards under Mackinnon.

He needs to take the team back to basics. It's clear that we have very limited options going forward so we should be making ourselves hard to beat and keeping clean sheets. Unfortunately the continued selection of Paul Dixon makes that difficult, and our midfielders seem to have stopped performing.

I suppose the thing with McKinnon is remembering what he took over in summer, a wrecked team with all its best players away, even the kind of average ones seemed to have left, so it was unlikely that he would turn it around in a season. The other thing is that, although I think he's a good young manager, we need to remember what he's up against in terms of experience in that division. Lennon, Duffy and Houston are all incredibly experienced managers who have all managed at a higher level than this. McKinnon came into the job from Raith Rovers where expectation levels were lower anyway. I'm not saying that means he should just get away with anything, it's just not a great surprise that the three teams above us have more experienced managers who know how to stop a rot.

You make very good points border, especially about the experience of managers around him which I hadn't really thought about to be honest.
My biggest criticism of McKinnon is that he's got his squad building wrong. The squad is lopsided and lacks pace in the wide areas and that should have been addressed. Instead we signed a plethora of no 10s when we already had one in Scott Fraser. I can understand why VDV was signed, as he obviously wanted to bring in experience, but that hasn't paid off. We then had Cammy Smith who I still contend would have done a good job for us but then Andreu was signed and suddenly we had 4 no.10s and no wingers. That shouldn't have happened.

And what did we sign last week...? A holding midfielder!! I agree, we are desperate for some width, I actually quite like Murray in that role to be honest!

That's fair up to a point Border.
He did inherit something of a shambles but unfortunately he's taken us backwards which didn't seem possible.
He now comes across to me as arrogant and stubborn.
Yet bizarrely if we beat Falkirk and Hibs beat Morton second place is actually in our own hands.
