Buying success

I've seen a lot of United posters talk about how Jose is betraying the youngsters (£70 million worth of youngster) and is just a chequebook manager etc

What I would like to know is how many people will actually be annoyed if this future scenario happens..

It's 2018 - Griezmann, Mendy, Matuidi and Lindelof come in. The cost is £170 million. We're winning games and winning them well.

Will this forum be full of articles bemoaning the lack of youth players? Or will the winning be hypnotising?

I totally understand why youth is so important to United and I'm not saying either reaction is right or wrong . Just curious to see if us winning every week might change people's perceptions and expectations of youth.

With us not winning every week now there's a surplus of 'paralysis by analysis ' articles. Do people really care about the youth or can a winning team make people care less?

Leicester winning the PL is arguably a more impressive achievement that Real Madrid spending a billion to win the CL, as the resource difference is vast.

Of course it is, nothing odd in that opinion.

Tell that to some fans. If you'd grew up, or read their football history, pre tv money meddling, it was a much more vast and fair landscape. Now it's just the big boys club.

And it's a lot worse for it, despite how technology can beam it to our homes/phones in gorgeous detail.

There's really no mystery or romance any more. Days of red star Belgrade etc winning a European cup (way before my time, but still) are gone. Now it's just the rich playing the rich, and the same teams usually.

The 1980s threw up 6 first-time European Cup champions versus 1 so far this century.

In 24 years of Champions League tournaments, only 3 winners have hailed from outside the big four leagues. That's fewer than in the last 7 editions of the old European Cup.

In some ways Sky helped saved football in this country

Go back to 1991/1992 and the quality was low, stadiums were old and decrepit (like VC) and it was far from something for families.

Things have improved so much since then

We all pay or have paid sky subs over the years. We have fed this monster over the years and now we have no choice but to keep on feeding it.

No they haven't. They've destroyed it. The old European cups were proper tournaments not the exclusive (and boring) club it is now. Similarly the prem.

Too much money, too much power, too much hype. I'd swap it back in a heartbeat.

Yeah, I saw that on your Twitter profile. The drag outfit and butt plug were not a good look.

I'm right though. Do you really enjoy the predictable nature of the 'locked' down CL these days?
