David Moyes pre United

Had a good reputation to the point a lot of Chelsea fans wouldn't have minded seeing him getting a chance here.

Now I get as much wrong as I do right but for any one who wanted Moyes what the hell did you see in him? It was so obvious he was going to fail if he ever got a top job, I couldn't believe our luck when United appointed him.

We knew that whoever replaced SAF was doomed.an impossible job. No big names wanted it.

So what we needed was a sacrificial lamb. Step in Moyes.

Backed up by almost no financial support from inept Ed (think how much LVG and Jose spent).

Doomed from start. By intention.

"Doomed from start. By intention."

Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. Presumably, Mourinho's been told to spend a load, but not break into the Top 4 too easily - make it look difficult, he's been told. If he fails, that will doubtless be on purpose too, you know to improve the narrative.

Different as Jose did not have to follow SAF. Nook be could. Needed a transition head to close off the era. Moyes.

As hard as it was Following SAF, a big character could have pulled it off. Liverpool replaced all there great manager's very well, I know not same time difference to Fergie but succeeding Shankly, Paisley, and Fagan was still a lot of pressure.

Cobblers. Moyes was obviously intended to be a long term successor. You can't just change the 'obvious' intentions because it didn't work out.

It was the six year contract that amused me.

Baffling. I'm all for showing support but that was clearly a ridiculous thing to do in the modern age.

3 year contracts are the max new managers should get, especially at bigger clubs.

What I did object to was when there was all this speculation about Moyes’ future, all the journos were saying “Manchester United have a template, they do not sack their Managers.”

Ron Atkinson, the man Fergie replaced did not resign.

They did not sack Fergie, but give him his time again, with exactly the same start he had first time round, in the same era Moyes took over, Fergie would also have been sacked. There is no way on earth the FA Cup (when finishing outside the top 4) would have saved Fergie.

I feel sorry for Moyes. He spent so long resisting the urge to move to a bigger club probably out of fear (or realism) of precisely what's wound up happening.

He's a bit of a Mourinho on a smaller scale. A great manager whose lost his way, not adapted to change as well as you'd assume he would've.

Woahhhh who on earth wanted Moyes here at Chelsea???

I can't remember the exact names ronny but I do remember around 2012 time Moyes name was being banded about after both AVB and RDMs sackings, infact I had a couple of debates with people who wanted him.
