it's traceable almost back to the birth of football in this country,

That's a load of bollox - you didn't play each other as a NLD until 1913 and only in the early 20s was it Arsenal v Tottenham as opposed to Woolwich!

Unlike the OP Ace, I’ll happily concede that $purs are a club of some prestige but to claim that your local your rivalry goes back ‘to the birth of football in this country’ is stretching the imagination somewhat don’t you think?
I mean it’s not exactly The Royal Engineers v The Old Eatonians is it? Not even Burnley v Blackburn!
Your rivalry didn’t even exist as a ‘local’ derby until 1913, some 25 years after the formation of the league, (which didn’t even include any London clubs) when Woolwich unceremoniously rocked up on your doorstep. And even then you didn’t come face to face with them in their present guise as Just Arsenal until well after WW1.
And to claim the NLD is the ‘best rivalry in English football by far? As passionate as it is, only a Spurs or Arsenal fan would be as bold to claim that; and there are supporters in Liverpool, Manchester, Birmingham, The North East who would strongly dispute it – and that’s not to underestimate the fierce rivalries in Sheffield, East Anglia, Blackburn and Burnley and other provincial areas, which may not be comparable in size to the bigger city derbies, but only a fool would deny the passion they generate!
Now I like you Ace, you do make me laugh, however I’m a bit long in the tooth to be swayed by such tall stories, the kids on here may fall for it – but not me!
Basically what I'm saying here is your NL rivalry, as passionate and historic as it is, does not date back to the birth of football in this country!

Everyone in London is our rival.
West Ham, Spurs and Arsenal are always desperate to beat us simply because (notwithstanding last season) we have been the best club in London for the past 13 years..

They were actually!
But only just!
Woolwich gategrashed NL in 1913 but still held the name Woolwich until some time after. I think they played one or two derbies there under that name before the phoenix finally rose from the ashes as just Le Ar$e but they never played against Spurs under that name till the early 20s.

Nice one Brum. Good to educate plastic Spurs fans about their own history

I never set out to wind other fans up and try to be as fair and objective as I can CFC, even if they're clubs I'm less than fond of.
They should be proud of their history and traditions, as should fans of every team over their own their own clubs, (well apart from MK Dons ).
A bit of respect goes a long way, I feel and I'll always reciprocate that when it's received!

Agree mate. Lots of respect for fans who know their club's history.
