A good point at home for Watford, continuing on from lasts seasons good form, Newcastle looking good, maybe a couple of improvements to be made to be title challengers this season
Leicester 2 - 2 Man City
Isak(Musiala),7 Osimhen(Olise) 72
J.Pedro(Simons)19, Nkunku(Barcola)83
A very tight game, not much wrong with set ups or tactics if anything, maybe Leicester just edge in terms of line ups but City have a very good side and gave the Champs a scare
Brentford 1 - 0 Spurs
Openda(Kerkez) 44
MOTM - Kerkez
Maybe with an opening win the tinker man will see a more steady starting line up, probably not tho, a bit of a smash an grab tho as Spurs dominated a large part of proceedings, Kane not at it today

2 very contrasting styles and set ups, Camavinga with a lot of ground to cover in the middle which Brentford took advantage of, however a very good back 3/5 for the home side, dominating the middle is all very good but if you cant get through the defence! it was a good game with no major incidents, two well worked goals
Watford 1 - 2 Leicester
Evanilson(Edwards)10
Gyokeres(Trent, Foden), 16, 56

Again I cant praise Watford highly enough, I like everything about them, however up against it today as everyone is when playing Leicester, an early set back for the away side tho as Evanilson took an opportunist chance to take the lead against his old club, he did celebrate as he should!, However with one of the most in form strikers on the planet, Leicester were a;ways gonna score, with a double Gyokeres took his chance replacing osimhen and took it very well wit a fine double to seal the points

Chelsea 0 Newcastle 0
MOTM - Rudiger
This was a tight affair with plenty of attacking talent on show but the resillience of Newcastle see's them walk away with a hard fought draw. Chelsea's wingers were well marshalled by Walker and Mendy. I like Chelsea's instructions to their fullbacks to come inside think that is a nice outlet there. Newcastle setting their wingers to drop deep without the ball makes them even sturdier in defence. Rudiger vs Haaland is always a great matchup and big Rudi on this day got the better of the Norweigan.
Villa 3 Spurs 1

A night to forget for The Pope as his sending off cost Spurs any chance they had of picking up any points. Teams evenly matched but the extra player for Villa made the difference and while there was a short spirited fightback from Spurs in second half Villa were content to just keep ball and it ended 3-1.

A tough ask for Brentford going for a switch around of tactics, which imo work very well however I feel Citys wingers will get a fair amount of room to exploit, they did and Barcola had a MOTM performance, Brentford worked hard and closed down City but City had enough to get the 3 points

Newcastle 2 - 2
Newcastle are a quality outfit these days they took the lead when Jota on the last man broke free and hit home a KDB through ball, Leicester had a fair amount of possession in the centre of the pitch and Mac Allister equalized when he broke through the middle with Musiala playing him in, Kvarat gave them the lead in 67 and changes were made straight away and it worked for Newcastle as Solanke playing in a two up top got to the end of a Madueke cross and above the central defenders to power home a lovely header..

Watford 0-1 Man City
Nice match up here - two excellent tacticians, Watford on a roll with the added home advantage, and City top of the form table.
The 🟥 went Watford's way around the 50th minute but it took until Simons’s arrival some 25 minutes later for the away side to come away with a very valuable 3 points.

Brentford vs Chelsea
At home, with the right personnel, tactics and packed midfield, I think Brentford would have the better of possession. Defensively with good pace at the back, I think playing the narrow defence would work well against Chelsea attackers who like to come inside.
In attack I could see the possession play working combined with creativity in middle and Raphinha vs Mendes. Chelsea have the upper hand on quality. Brentford weren’t overly clear on defensive roles of Raphinha/Kerkev but both naturally are strong defensively/hard working. I do think with the runs of the Chelsea attacking four, the likes of Mbappe and Haaland would look to target the sweeper being deeper. Also like that they will mix it up and go direct, and with the quality and pace of the front three could see this exposing space against the back 3. Overall, Brentford slightly had the upper hand on tactics and game plan. Chelsea getting the upper hand on subs, plus form.

The 🟥 + inevitable knock on effect, added to an edge (for me) on tactics and subs for the Foxes, gave Leicester an unanticipated two goal win against their formidable opponent

Man City vs Villa
City started with a clear head start and home form. The City side have good balance, I think having a natural left footer in Odegaard negates the lack of width on that side and good attacking tactics. City also have a much clearer gameplan. Against a more powerful side could see the midfield as lightweight (similar to PSG struggles vs Arsenal) and defensively don’t offer best cover in an attacking side.
Given Villa have a well balanced side, with good quality and width offered by the fbs combined with the wingers, could see them creating good chances. Quality were slightly short of City. Nothing between subs for me. City with a good advantage for slots.
City 3-2 Villa
