yup, and is legally entitled to refuse to move to another club.

however absolutely no one on this forum has any idea at all about rooney's personal intentions, whether he would play with the U23s for 2 years to get paid, or take a 50% pay cut to move to another PL club, or try his hand abroad. no one has any idea.

jose has made it clear where he is in the pecking order, we will see what happens. but if he stays at united i very much doubt it will be because jose has begged him to stay.

to be honest i pay little attention to what is said in public, in public jose always praises rooney, ultimate professional, club legend etc etc

what i would hope is happening is that in private jose tells rooney that he has no plans to play him regularly next season, and it would be better for all if he left.

but none of us will be in those meetings, so short of a media leak we won't be certain of what happens.

it will be a crushing disappointment if he waddles into training in august.

For all the highs and lows that Rooney has gone through, i actually feel some sympathy for him. I know i probably won't get many that see it my way and even though i do give him stick (which he deserves often nowadays) i still feel sorry for him.

He burst onto the scene like a dynamite and carried on his explosive style for what would seem like eternity and then comes the supposed 'peak years' and it seemed like he was slowly fizzing out already but then we all thought - 'Nah, he's just going through a rough patch, he'll be back to his lethal best soon.' We wait and wait and although we see shorter and shorter glimpses of magical Rooney, his form then drops so drastically as each season passes by. And now we come to this scenario where the large majority of us are very disillusioned with him and hopes that he leaves.

So in short - One day he's a God amongst heroes, the next day he's a villain we want gone
