I've seen lots of posts asking what if we don't win the Europa?
That's been done to death. I'm here to ask what if we DO win it?
Firstly we go straight into the CL group stage. Liverpool will have to go through the qualifying stage with some tough sides in it like Hoffenheim and Sevilla.
Secondly with guaranteed CL football it should he easier to get our targets. The past few years have shown that we don't necessarily need CL football to get big names but they usually come with a no-CL premium. With CL football it might not be so expensive. Hopefully at least.
Thirdly it will give us a feel good factor going into the summer. While 6th place is very disappointing the abiding memory will be of the trophy win in Sweden and how in his first season Jose got us two trophies which compared to the shiiiit we've seen in past seasons is a step in the right direction.
Who knows what will happen next week but one thing is certain, a win will be a huge boost to the club and future ramifications. One of the biggest games in the clubs recent history. Has a lot riding on it.

Then time to move on from a poor PL campaign and look to improve next season.

Here is the one undeniable fact about that game: It is going to be a dire borefest of which we will be camped in our half for half the game.
The only thing that happens if we win is we wallpaper the massive cracks in this season.

Of course, but I can have two perspectives on an issue. We can and should win, it will be exciting, we will be in the CL. But we are 6th in the league, cup competition may lie, the league doesn't.

SAF always said the priority is to win one trophy in a season. IF we win that's two trophies and CL football. whatever way you spin it, that's pretty good for a managers first season, when our squad still needs a lot of work.

How we manage to blame the squad is just the continuation of the brainwashing. How many squads where you willing to exchange with? We had a brilliant squad. Our manager just wasn't bringing out the best of them. This point really is the most key thing in any debate about this season and a signifier of the next year.

Winning the Europa League should just be a means to an end. Without the reward for a CL's spot, the trophy itself is worthless for a club like United.

Have a bit of nuance about your argument, the "everyone who thinks we're not doomed are all Jose sycophants" bit is wearing a bit thin. I accept we have failed utterly in terms of the league but we have competed in every other competition. After 1 season that's not bad. Not great either, but not bad.

Missing the point unnecessarily. This team was good enough to do better and the manager could not do so. How many here are clamouring for Moses, Alonso, matic, and Cahill. Heck people lmao when they bought back Luiz! Make no mistake about it they performed above expectation and that is thanks to a manager putting his players in a position to succeed.
How many games against Swansea, burnley, and teams who did not come close in player quality did we underperform in time and again. Was the squad they had better or we did. It play to our expectations?
Doing well in cups are great, but there is a reason why there is a Cinderella story every year. A bit of luck, a favourable draw playing defensive football sneaking a goal or two can get you far. The league is the true test of a team over a period.
