That's according to the Telegraph, with their front page in tomorrow's paper claiming Arsene will be signing a two year deal after the FA Cup final. Won't bother asking for your thoughts if the story is true..

Tony Adams to replace Fraudiola

So Wenger was so terrified when the board called his bluff that he is now ready accept a director of football role? Frankly the Sporting director role is made for Wenger. So many ex-players including Adams already say that he does very little coaching. Why doesn't Wenger become the Director of football and allow someone like Allegri take the day to day duties? Does Kroenke have the balls to put it to Wenger.

I highly doubt Allegri will leave Juventus to join Arsenal; I don't know why this is being tossed around as a possibility. No top manager of Europe's elite clubs has left their top club while still under contract to join a Premier League side in recent memory (last 10 years).

No top manager would want to come in with Wenger as his boss and work under his shadow. Whenever he leaves he needs to leave completely instead of going upstairs.

Wenger's shadow doesn't cast much of shade these days. Wenger hasn't won a major trophy for a decade. All managers are used to working with a director of football. Beckenbauer at Munich or Cruyff at Barca didn't scare off any new managers.

Can't see any self respecting manager who would want to come in under Wenger straight after he leaves, we'd only get a yes man with Wenger still having lots of control. And would Wenger even want that anyway? Technically it's a promotion but in reality it's a demotion by saying he's not good enough to manage anymore, so I doubt he would accept that role.

For the sake of the children......
Cruyff has never been DoF at Barca. They sacked him as manager after a brief trophyless run and kept him frozen out.
He tried to blag his way back into a peripheral advisory role during the Laporta years, but the club threw him out as soon as a new president came in.
Beckenbauer was also never DoF of anything. He's been a player, caretaker manager, club president and most recently held the amorphous title of "Chairman of the Bayern advisory board".
