A final thought on Monk/AR

Monk saw AR up close for 6/9 months.

He clearly didn't see enough in that time to convince him that there was a compelling proposition here.

That is the thing that concerns me. Monk leaves,we'll get a replacement, but with ARs focus on ER and not on players wages, one wonders what the realistic ambitions on the pitch are.

I don't get some of these comments.
- moving to a new stadium ? Baseless.
- buy ER or not? Always was going to be a profit&loss/ cash flow/ cost-based decision, dependent on the period under consideration by an owner
- massive player investment - we knew AR wasn't an Abramovich. So why should we expect it?

Think some have let the sweet smell of 'success' (defined as being nearer the top end of the table than the bottom) cloud expectations. Remember, we've fallen a hell of a long way in the last 10+ years ....so expecting it all to happen so quickly just ain't gonna happen and we need to reign back those expectations. Maybe Monk got unrealistic too?

Give me a club with sound foundations, stability and steady improvement any day. Just hope we get it this time.

------
Mansfield replaced by kinnear.

Kinnear has overseen 2 stadia moves now.

So?
C'mon Jonty. This is not like you.....adding 2 + 2 to make (whatever number you choose)
You preach "I'll believe it when .....", so follow your own advise here.

Can't see any benefit in moving to a smaller stadium. ER is big enough for where we are atm and buying it back along with TA makes sense compared to paying an annually escalating rent.
It becomes a different priority if we ever win promotion as I don't believe we would have enough capacity.
As others have said, investment on the pitch is critical to building on last season. The quality of Monks successor will tell us a lot about AR's short term ambition

No benefit moving ANYWHERE when we can buy a 40k capacity one for under £20million!!!

Do upgrade stands when necessary.

Or it could just be about money - as most things are in football these days!

Come on guys - the fans have been bleating on about MC not buying ER for years. Now there's a good chance we might and suddenly it's a negative!

Who is mad enough to want to own our club eh?

There could be a number of different reasons why he left. In my opinion there is no "clearly" about any of this yet. Only different opinions

I don't think it's anything to do with Rad's plans. I just think it is that Leeds weren't going to offer him the contract he wanted. In the media the last few days, it has been about the 12 month extension. Monk wanted a long deal, Leeds didn't. He went somewhere he would get that. That's my take on it. Rad was talking down the season the other day, he wasn't too keen on Monk for the same reasons some of us aren't.

Monk wasn't backed in January and maybe the discussions he did have revealed he wasn't going to get the backing he felt was needed this summer. Speculation admittedly. The suddenness of his departure leads me to think, he's been promised better backing/longer contract elsewhere.
