The expectation is that Chelseafc will need to significantly to strengthen its squad for next season to successfully defend its EPL title and begin the process of returning to elite status within Europes top tier of football.
200m is a figure which seems to easily slip off the tongue for all of the top four clubs as what it will take to stay in the game , PHEW!
But with emergence of the Chinese league , the amount of money generally in the EPL and the agents hold on players contracts seemingly effortlessly pushing values i think its going to be very tough to bring in the players.
I think this season now more than ever its going to imperative to keep the players we have, develop the quality younger players and then strengthen.
I can see the club bringing 3/4 players , at an out and out stretch ,but over that it could be a case of buying players for the sake of it.
I really feel Willian ( in light of the Hazard injury), Matic and Fabregas should be kept , increasing the depth in the squad, as i can't at see us replacing them easily and then adding to improve.

Upgrades on Cahill and Matic most important things. Also competition for Moses and maybe Alonso as well.

Like i said in my opinion its going to be hard enough to bring in 3 / 4 players who will give the squad the quality it requires to go to another level.
Selling players who can do the job at squad level will not happen unless silly money bids come in and the replacements are not astronomical to buy, which in this market is unlikely.

We did show interest in him last season - but he decided to go to Juventus instead, which is fair enough.
But the people in charge of transfers do not fill me with confidence. We never seem to be able to negotiate a way to purchase players at the top of our list. Except for Kante, nobody we bought last season was first choice. We inevitably work all Summer on one or two players, and when they eventually fall through we do a panic buy on the last day of the season.
p.s. no thanks regarding James Rodriguez. He seems like a player you need to build your team around, and i don't think he's good enough for that.

get Veratti at all cost sell Matic and batshuayi, a cheeky bid for Pastore would be nice too rate him very highly. Not sure how much game time pastore is getting at psg. Bring back Andreasen and gie him some game close season and in the league and FA cups.

Looks like we're in for a tough season next year. Injuries will mount up.
Think we definitely need to strengthen with around 6 more players.
Other clubs looking to their business early, Liverpool and City.
We definitely need another winger now that Hazard is out as well as a striker.
We need back ups or better alternatives to both our wing backs.
A midfielder to play alongside Kante.
A CB, was hoping we'd get Van Djik but he's off to Liverpool.
And a backup keeper which should be last on the priorities

Ake is a good back up for Alonso and Azpi can also play there if we are in a bind. Id love to see Chalobah get some game time as he was showing well in the games he played. Dont want Dani Alves anywhere near London. Want to see Luiz made team captain this year too.
