Its actually BRILLIANT from LFC!

By offering an apology and pulling out of the transfer LFC seem to have apologised for committing a faux pas..but have they??

Consider this:

An apology, terminating the transfer immediately, by doing that LFC look to have taken the "proper" course of action, in fact what HAS happened is Saints have a player who knew he would be on around £200K p/w but also knows Saints cant pay that. VVD also knows that the CL was more than likely on offer, saints cannot offer that either.

What Saints have is actually a player who will be pzzd at not only the outcome of the transfer but also the size of fee saints wanted. The emphasis is 100% on VVD and saints now, LFC have done their bit and i expect VVD will meet with saints and try and force a move...after all, can he go to City or CFC after publicly admitting LFC was his first choice??

Everyone knows a pzzd player generally gets what he wants......genius from Liverpool!

Is GB real or is he just an entity floating in the Ether?

Your feeder club will sell at 60 m or close to that.
Do you blame them when you buy all their players?

An early and unambiguous apology tends to take the sting out of things. A declaration of severance of interest, clears the air.

So, we're not buying a player for £75M after all, or £50M for that matter. Good. Good player, great at times, really showed his class, international at least if not world. So did Lovren. Commanded his defence. So did Lovren. His value went sky high when he plays for Southampton. So did Lovren's.

Has he had poor games? You bet.

Is it the end of the world? No, wipe yer mouth and move on.

The only good thing to come out of it is that the Southampton board of directors have decided he is worth £75M. Gawd, just think of the wage increase his agent will be demanding now!

It's no genius move GB, Henry seems to be so concerned with the perception of the club that they issued this statement that really is unprecedented in football as far as I know.

Can see why Saints are so annoyed and you would imagine prior to this the clubs had a decent relationship that we have needlessly put in jepordy.

Think when confronted how we were the club have done the rigth thing, any threat of an actual transfer ban is far more significant that signing a albeit very good player.

Was reported last night that the FA will not be folling up now on the Saints complaint so best to leave it as it is and move on to other targets.

One thing I'd like to know is what was so different over us approaching VVD and us, or other clubs approaching other players in the past?

The news he wanted to join us I geuss was a bit odd you don't often see that but I'm sure there must be examples of it in the past.

But you have to give credit to Saints, they stood up for themsleves and said not having it on your terms.

Wonder could this have a knock on affect for other clubs and how they approach players etc??

My guess the difference is that our club is leakier than John Terry's c_ck on a dance floor.

The Southampton board rightly took offence (and rightly so) to media saying their player is Liverpool bound.

It was an attempt by Liverpool to avoid a bidding war for the player. It was cheap and crass and Southampton have called us out on it. We caved in and grovelled.

The transfer window hasn't even opened and we've already facked it up. When it comes to player recruitment the club under FSG has been utterly inept.

Whether other people do it or not, it's the old adage, "don't be the ones to get caught". I guess tapping up the captain and guy who has 5 years to run on a contract was that bit too far.

Makes us look amateur imo. Bigtime.

I'm still stunned they've apologised for something, that's a proper turn up.
