I wouldn't say it was a revenge attack, but perhaps he just wanted to see how people felt when the shoe was on the other foot

He probably misinterpreted a Britain First tweet about "bringing Muslims to heel".

Maybe he saw all the shoes on the floor at the mosque's entrance and was simply recommending a quicker way of getting them on and off?
