Magic and TFM

Whilst the Matic signing is somewhat underwhelming, I feel he could offer a degree of balance to the side and allow Pogba and Herrera to get on with their thing higher up the pitch - although, I believe there are better options out there for this role.

However, that discussion has been, and is being, done to death. So another angle potentially to look at the transfer is that we'receive bringing in a player in his late-20's who could well only offer the club 4-5 years of first team service.

After this short period of time TFM will be 23/24 and hopefully have made solid in roads as a backup CM and improved as he ages. Could we be trying to time this latest CM to phase out as one of our hottest prospects begins to rise?

I don't think he'd be a bad signing for us by any means, but it's a bit early to be calling him magic don't you think?

So why not sign a CM who is in his early/mid 20s and after 4/5 years sell him on for a profit if we are really that keen on bringing TFM up?

I'm all for silver linings but signing Matic is shooting ourselves in the foot as he will marginally improve us, but potentially significantly improve Chelsea with the 40m.

Alot of folk saying they would rather just see TFM given a chance... I'm sure they would be the same fans crying of Jose didn;t sign a midfielder though.

I think, as you say, the Matic signing is actually beneficial to TFM though.

that's generalising....

I've said it... but I'm not against signing a midfielder... I think we need one.

I don't think Matic improves us though.. something you've said you're not sure about yourself

I'd rather make do (Herrera, Carrick and some game time for TFM, be it as sub/league cup etc)... than spend money on getting a body in for the sake of it

Suppose it just boils down to how much you rate Matic or not

Ain't gonna happen, two players will sit deep as with last season. All of Pogba, Carrick, Herrera and Fallaini spent time as a two sitting deep.

Hopefully Pogba never does that again, he was poor in the role and looked much better at the end of the season.

We need someone in that position though, that much is undeniable. If TFM is deemed not ready, then I will trust the manager on this, someone who seems him every day. We see him in the very rare cameo roles (none of which have been amazing).

I've said all along that I would prefer us to break the bank to find a Carrick replacement, so Matic hardly excites me... But if a Carrick replacement is not out there, then a decent DM is required.

We haven't signed him.

I think TFM should go out on loan next season to somewhere where he will play regularly. He's shown plenty of signs that he can be a long term player at this club but also doesn't look fully ready at times.

He didn't play much last season and I can understand why but he needs game time.

TP

One of the promoted teams should do the trick.

If you are a slow ageing midfielder looking for a pay rise, United is definitely the place to go.

Matic will fit right in.
