Optimism

Has anyone else found a new sense of optimism after the Villa game?

I actually think we have a class team! We do lack attacking options - that's plain to see - but I think our midfield we look to have some flair for the first time in many years. Barkley, Coleman and Drenthe all offer pace and urgency the likes we haven't seen since Kanchelskis. It's something we've always been lacking. In central midfield we are spoilt for choice. Up front, considering we only play 1 forward, Saha, Denis and Cahill isn't so bad is it? I also think Vellios has what he takes. He looks good to me.

Strangely it's in defence where we've been poor. Jags hasn't been at his best. If that continues then I think it's gotta be Heitinga and Distin. That's why we have a squad isn't it? Players come in and out of form.

I love Nev but I've got to take my hat off to Moyesy for dropping him at the weekend. Hibbert has been really good and deserves his place. It's not a decision I expected Moyes to make though. Fair play.

So yeah, all in all I think we do have a really good side. We need to get behind the lads, get Goodison rocking and get some points on the board!

How time flies

I agree it's been the defence that's been letting us down. As with last season, I never feel confident when we take a lead. We always give it away too easily.

I wont feel confident until the fans get united. I can't see that happening in a hurry though.
