to be fair to the icc, there werent many players to choose from for emerging player of the year, probably tossed a coin between a few......

Also, "emerging player" of the year indicates that they have massive potential and will be established players in the next few years.... not the case if you go by the last few years, the following have hardly set cricket on fire after winning the award:

Wahab Riaz - 2006 - Hot and cold
Tait - 2007 - now quit?
Mendis - 2008 - oustanding performances??
Siddle - 2009 - one or two good games?
Finn - in and out of england team
Bishoo - Probably wont last either

Only one that has fitted the bill of this category in the true sense has been KP - 2005!!!!

@afridi... I think a player can only perform to what he has been given.... I havent followed pakistan cricket closely so dont have a right to say that they have no class players..... But from what I saw, bishoo was excellent against india..... Im not sure whether wahab falls in the category of emerging player of they year, but if he does then definately he deserves it.....
Just suprised that despite indian players being in england and are leaving close to where the event happened no one turned up. The likes of dhoni didnt even record a thankyou message for the award he was given. For whatever reoson they all missed, its pretty much disrespecting and devaluing these awards. This will come back to dhoni in the press conference and the 5th odi

Typical Pakistan Bias

Shouldnt Bresnan be in the shortlist for this award bearing in mind his test performances with ball and bat? This time last year he was a maybe in the ashes squad as 5th/6th choice bowler.
