Water bottles

Is it healthier to use a used empty water bottle like volvic etc or empty Coca-Cola bottle?

Has anyone ever used one of those straw things that you're supposed to be able to drink toilet water through, or from a river/lake/puddle?

I wouldn't dare even though they're supposed to filter 99.999999% of shiiiit or something.

I'll use them for a couple weeks at a time. The way I see it, they spend potentially months lying around in a warehouse, on the supermarket shelf, maybe in storage at home, where the bottle material can leach into the stagnant water. When I re-use the bottle I generally tend to rinse it out and then drink the water over a small time window. IMO any plastic content would pale in comparison to what would be present within the initial drink from the unopened bottle. Obviously I'll admit I'm no expert though.

I save them up in a massive plastic bag and send them to recycling when given the chance.

I feel bad for admitting that I've reused the same water bottle that I take to the gym for a good few years.
