Best right back in the league..

Some rivals fans I know have either somehow gone mad or just trying to wind me up, trying to say Kyle walker is better than Valencia surely nobody else with football knowledge can think this?

Walker isn't exactly great going forward either.

Valencia is a marginally better defender, walker a marginally better attacker

'Best RB in the league' is not really saying much.

This is not a vintage era for FBs.

Playing FB nowadays is much tougher than it used to be

I'd like to see those 'vintage RBs' that used to stick close to the CBs spend 90mins bombing up and down the flank

More importantly, do we need to buy another striker?...

I'd say absolutley, if we're not offering zlatlan one. What if first game in lukaku gets an injury.

Exactly that. And i also don't know if Mourinho/club is banking on Zlatan to return from injury and sign asap when he's ready of around autumn time?

Full backs have bombed up and down the flanks in my life time of watching football.

United Leeds Liverpool and Ipswich full backs from the 70's were all doing it.

I think Pochettino's worked well with Walker. He's made him a better all round defender and I would say overall he offers more than Valencia does.

Him on one side and Mendy likely on the other will improve City a lot. Last season they were crying out for more dynamic full-backs.

Walker and Valencia are probably about the same in terms of quality. Both average in defence and attack.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How the hell is Valencia average in defence. Not one LW got the better of him last season, positionally he is good, he wins headers and he stays on his feet.

This.

Valencia is a beast defensively. Now his positioning is sorted, his only weakness is his lack of aerial ability.

Nobody outmuscles him, gets past him with the ball, or beats him for pace or power.

Walker = better defender

Valencia = better winger

No two ways about it.

That does not necassarily mean Walker should be a united target. For a start, Darmian has ALL the necessary prerequisites for a top class, proper defensive, full back already present. Indeed he already looks like one of the clubs better signings in recent seasons/years
