Happy Friday everyone and, as promised last night, I think the best way to celebrate a Friday is by having a DUFC News!
Football has returned and the Terrors are now two games into the season. Following last Saturday's 2-0 win against Raith, United travelled to Moray to face off against Highland League side Buckie Thistle. We made 4 changes to the side, Lewis, Robson, Stanton and N'Doyi came into the team, and United ran out 3-0 winners. McMullan, King and Durnan on the scoresheet in the first half.
United were apparently good in the first half and then fairly drab in the second. I wasn't at the game however so I'm relying on reports from elsewhere for this.
The victory has however been soured by an injury to Keatings. The forward was stretchered off late in the game and it looks like ligament damage, which will keep him out for (I suspect) 6-8 weeks. That's very bad news for the club as it looked like we were building the attack around him.
It's also troubling given that N'Doyi looks like he may turn out to be a diddy. I wasn't impressed with him on Saturday and by all accounts he was poor on Wednesday after being given his first start. If this injury is as bad (or worse) as first feared then I expect the manager to move for another striker to be brought in.
Of course, he may be helped in this by the windfall we are about to receive from Andy Robertson's transfer to Liverpool. A whopping £800,000 should be going into the Tannadice coffers and it will be greatly received. I'm under no illusions however that the manager will see much of this cash, but I'm hopeful that we'll be able to bring in at least one other player with it.
So we look forward to the next game, where we entertain Cowdenbeath on Sunday in the 3pm kick off. Hopefully we'll be going into the derby the following week on the back of three wins in this competition, however Cowdenbeath showed last season that they can make life difficult for us.

Just seen the Courier are saying that it's 4-6 weeks for Keatings. Slightly better than first feared but we'll wait and see.

I feel happier now
Keatings has proven quality at Championship level so will be a big player for you this year. Whenever I saw you play I was never convinced by your options up front.
Simon Murray to me looked like a plodder, lots of effort but no real quality- I'm surprised Hibs bought him.

Ivan 👍🏻
Saw the news on Keatings and was quite relieved. 4-6 weeks is far better and hopefully he heals as quickly as Toshney 😂
It's strange as there have been contrasting reports about N'koyi. Some folk said he played well at Buckie and just needs a goal. I wan't there either.
All derby tickets sold out now

AK - I've only seen the negative reports to be honest and they seem to confirm what I saw on Saturday. I'm hoping that it's just that he needs to get up to speed fitness-wise but I think I'm just trying to convince myself that he's not a diddy. Always happy to be proven wrong but I have concerns.
Glad to see the derby is sold out. Hopefully it'll be a good atmosphere and a good game.
I'm also hoping we can have a minutes silence for the Dens Park fox.

That's the bold Andrew Robertson signed for Liverpool, so a wee windfall should be on its way.
Delighted for him. Never before have I wanted a player to succeed as much as him. A total inspiration and I hope he becomes a massive star in that team.
