With the introduction and success of playing with 3 at the back by Conte, it seems that other teams will make it their default system come next season.
City thrashed Madrid 4-1 in a pre-season friendly by using a 3-5-2 system.
What this signifies is that Pep is probably preparing his players to use this system for the upcoming campaign.
I also expect to see other teams to use this system as their default formation.
The question now is, if most teams, especially the top 6 all use the 3 man system at the back, who will be more successful and consistent with this system.
For me, the defining factor for the teams that use this system is the personnel.
The team that has the players that are suited more to this system, will be the team that will be more successful.
This is why it is imperative for Chelsea to strengthen the wing back positions.
Sandro is a must!
Thoughts...
3 at the back: A tough campaign ahead!

I am assuming the club will not pinning their hopes only on one target for the position that need upgrading or covered for the next season. They"re probaly have back up options should they fail to land their main targets.

I think City have the best squad (at the moment) to play the formation but us and Spurs have the advantage of having a whole season perfecting it.
I think the signings we've made have meant we're now really flexible with what we can play.
I can see us using all of the following next season:
433
442
352
343
Obviously there's variations of those as well like (3-4-1-2)

To play 3-5-2 another CF is needed. As well as a wing backs and another CM (if Matic leaves )

Didn't Conte only use the system due to the lack of balance in his mind?
With a potentially good summer in the market, I'd assumed Conte would revert to a back four?
Also, I think champions need to always try and progress their style, or they get caught out.

Teams were finding ways to combat our system at the end of the season.
Getting in behind the wing backs, overloading the midfield.
No system is perfect, I expect he may have something up his sleeve, but dont expect a complete system change 1st game of the season, think it will evolve as the season progress's.

Evolving he personnel is key to making the 3-4-2-1 successful again.
Matic being removed from the side is a good step, now Cahill, Moses and Alonso and we're set.

Chelseamf who is going to replace an experienced CM like Matic. Also what is all this talk about replacing Cahill when he has at least 3 more seasons at his peak left in him.I can understand people saying that we need to improve on Alonso and Moses but Matic and Cahill are more than good enough and Alonso might also improve in the future.

Moses was a revelation last season. I think he'll even get better. We only need a backup for the RWB position.
As for the LWB, if we can sign Sandro, then we're goodto go.

Weak links I mentioned above will be found wanting in CL and playing two-games a week.
Moses for sure worked defensively, surprised me.
Offensively not at all surprised same old same old lacking final product (which has been the case throughout his career), leaves a lot to be desired that's not going to change.
Offensively supposed to be the strongest part of his game having formely played as a forward, but struggles.
