The Reason Spurs Aren't Spending....

this is rock solid information from the best sauce out there. I totally have not made this up.

Spurs have sold Walker for £45m, Bentaleb for £17m Fazio £3m and Njie £6m. Thats a tidy £71m burning a hole.

On top of this last season they earned £50m more from TV/Prize money and +£40m from the UCL, money they will also get this season too !

Now the important bit.

Spurs have first refusal on Gareth Bale until 2019. Anyone bid, if its accepted by RM and Spurs match it, RM must sell to Spurs.

Levy loves Bale and he would be the perfect way to usher in this new era and take us to the next Level

Like i say, this is totally true! solid gold. No messing. Not wishful thinking, phact.

Welcome back Gareth

All this wishful thinking & 1st refusal is well and good by you are all forgetting the elephant in the room.

Levi will not pay anywhere near what RM would ask for Bale so 1st refusal or not, Bale's affinity or desire to rejoin Spurs, be it real or imagined, means nothing when the man with his hands on the purse strings makes Ebenezer Scrooge look like Roman Abramovich
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Ask yourself this....why would Levy include a first refusal clause in the sale contract.

Obviously Bale would cost a fortune and be on astronomical wages. Other than us getting him back the only other benefit would be that any other buying team would have to pay BIG in order blow us out of the water and discourage us from activating the first refusal clause.

This is all a bit tongue in cheek from me, i don't suspect we'd ever spend so much to bring him back.

Sometimes deals are done with sponsors to align players and clubs and make deals happen and as Bale is Adidas and Spurs now Nike, this makes the possibility even more remote.

Interesting to see the debate tho. I'd see his injury issues as a bigger concern than his stance when he left Spurs. Funny how we'd take a player who has gone on strike but find such behavior abhorrent when we're on the receiving end.

Anyone in doubt about Bale, go on youtube and check out his best goals. They are simply remarkable.

I would love Bale back at Spurs, imagine our current team with him in it, mouth watering to say the least, but he will stay at Madrid this season.

Who knows in the future though, we can not completely rule out his return, what better way for Levy to lead us into the new stadium in a years time, by giving us the gift of Bale at NWHL. Maybe Levy would loosen the purse strings or maybe Bale would take a pay cut to return to the Spurs.

All very unlikely but we can dream lol

bale would come in thinking he is billy big bollox I suspect and get frustrated any time the ball isn't passed to him.

when he left we were geared up to defend and then give the ball to him whenever we attacked.

we are now a very different beast, and a proper team....

Slightly off topic:
It would appear (well on twatter at least) that Southampton will be looking to sign Wimmer as a replacement if van Dijk goes to Liverpool.

Bearing in mind Liverpool's history with Saints the clever money thinks Liverpool may try to save upwards of £30m and buy Wimmer directly from Spurs, save us going through Southampton next year.

We're not spending because we don't need to.

You are saying this now, but next May when you are not in the PL top 4 then you may change your tune.

By the way, I agree with the Spurs chairman that the current spending spree is crazy, however he has to be realistic and examine what impact it will have on his team in the upcoming season.

Globaled has got this exactly right!
Sure the current market is crazy - even Maureen says so. But he's buying. Because he knows you can't, like Levy, bring a knife to a gun fight and expect to win.

We have a skeleton squad given the coming schedule. Rumors abound that we're in for Ross Barkley and Toljan from Hoffenheim. Hope springs eternal that Levy will do something.

Oh yes, and forget bringing Bale back.
Do you think Levy would really do that?
Dream on.
He's well past his "sell by" date anyways.

Bale is actually on 600k a week, 350k after tax so we definitely won't be signing him
