I don’t think I’ve felt so uncertain before about what lies ahead at this stage. Last year the pre-season saw lots of encouraging signings at a time when I thought that an outsider would not believe that the club had a great deal to offer. This year, despite the poor end of season, potentially, there was surely much more to feel good about joining the club, but this has not been the case with none of the early hoped-for PL loans materialising. And despite continuing suggestions that there are deals in the pipeline it is fairly obvious that we must already missed out on several first choices. Could there now be question marks over the wisdom of signing Kiwomya? One assumes that his medical examination and subsequent fitness management were properly conducted, just as one assumes that of Baudry was too, but last year returns to fitness often followed an erratic pattern with reports too of players "carrying injuries" and knocks and coming off because they "felt" a hamstring or whatever and there were lengthy absences often with further injuries soon after a return to playing, as in Mandeville’s case, none of which inspires confidence.
Pre-season matches have not really provided anything really encouraging and what happened at Chesterfield was a finale which rather reflected what had dismally led up to it.
Let us hope that somehow the disjointed preliminaries will not have too bad an effect, but it is difficult to pretend that there could be great confidence in the camp.
Some pundit forecast a “bottom half" finish recently which contrasts with the May betting odds for a play-off finish and right now I can see the sense of it based on how things look. I hope I’m wrong.
Gillingham only just hung on to League 1 status last season and anything less than a win will be very worrying.

Kongolo signed.
Looking at the youtube video of him we have a fantastic young player coming to us.
Roll on Saturday.

3 Ks signed with the latest carrying a name that I might be able to remember how to spell.
If teams were banned from playing defenders I would be forecasting that we would win the league now. Being a midfield player Ferguson does seem to know how to pick 'em.
What's your prediction Hound?

We've pulled off a big one here Hound. This lad is the next big thing. Very highly thought of in Holland and at city. He was the captain of the U23s, watched the game against weeds in there semi-final of the cup. Stood head n shoulders above everyone else. Bring on Saturday

Don, you may recall that I have a 9/1 bet that we get back to back promotions that I put on last December.
with what has gone off in the summer, injuries and the failure of DF to land his preferred CB, I was beginning to think that we would have to be happy with a top half position at best.
However, with the two signings today and especially Dave (Rodney) I am back to feeling reasonably confident that we could secure a play off place.
Anytime we are in play offs we always seem to win them.
Zigger, I have a customer who is a City season ticket holder and he is telling me that we have signed a gem.
I hope we have an option on keeping Kongolo until the end of the season if he wants to stay.

Had a dream last night. Rovers win 4-0, Rowe to score first in front of an adoring crowd of 6226.

Looking forward to this season Hound. Think you can safely say you can bet on both teams to score, every time we play. Except HMP Pymouth
When the newbys have settled in and Houghton comes back, I think we could storm this league. Got 66-1 for winning league, quarter odds for finishing in playoffs. Had to have a little bit of that.
Like being a kid on Christmas Eve all over again.
