Losing a derby is never easy and losing so convincingly is even harder to take.
The scoreline flattered us.
They wanted it more than we did and they dominated the game for almost the whole 90 minutes, bar a brief period before the break. It was far from good enough and much of the blame lies with the manager.
It was evident within the first 10 minutes that the 442 system he had started with wasn't working. And yet he persevered. He finally changed when we went a goal behind. That was ludicrous.
In that period the number 8 for them was dictating the play and dominating the middle of the park, while El Bakhtoui (sp) was getting the freedom of Dens Park. This was of course primarily because our centre halves were obsessed with trying, and failing, to contain the aerial threat of Haber. The midfield two offered little in that half, either in protecting the defence or pressing their midfield.
They should have taken the lead before they did, missing a host of chances. Finally they took the lead with a cracking goal. We did change, created a couple of chances then equalised through good build up play and a close range King finish.
Second half looked like it might be a close run thing. It wasn't. They were on top again and we never got into the game. The manager reverted back to the 442 and again it never worked.
We still had a couple of chances, but they were dwarfed by the chances Dundee had.
As I say, the better team won. It was a hugely disappointing night which was only compounded by the managers post match interview. "Fine margins" is not a statement I want to hear. Don't come out with lines about how it could have went either way - we all saw the game. We were lucky it wasn't 4 or 5 and if I was a Dee (and I thank various deities that I'm not) then I'd be slightly disappointed that it was only 2-1.
Hopefully we'll get a reaction on Saturday because ultimately the league is the priority, but I expected more and better in a derby game.

"I was part of the group that was involved in this incident. The group was called Wagner and friends and we had the sponsors table hospitality package. The guy Paul Anderson who booked Wagner for last derby was the match sponsor for last nights game (did the half time draw). There was 14 of us sitting together 3 rows behind ST in the Directors box.
When the game was over we headed back to lounge area for after drinks etc. One of the guys in our group was walking down the corridor towards the lounge. He started looking at his phone not realising ST was directly behind him. ST must have thought that the guy was taking a picture of him or something as he got really irate and grabbed the guy. there was a brief scuffle which resulted in ST falling to the floor (it was handbags tbh). He was with his son and wife I think.
Our group was then escorted to our room and none of us were allowed to leave as police were then involved. Eventually we were all allowed to leave and we heard that our guy was the one being charged. Not one of our group were asked for a statement as to what had happened. It seems the police were only interested in ST and his family's account of the incident. ST was completely in the wrong. It was not all Dundee fans in the group there was me and two other united fans and we are all pretty clear that ST was the instigator."
Consclusive proof if it were needed Thompson is a spineless ratbag

Interesting account and no reason to disbelieve it. It wouldn't exactly be a surprise. Probably slightly more to it than that account gives but I'm prone to believe it was nothing and should have gone no further.

IMO Mackinnon is an imposter of a manager and we'll continue to under achieve under him.
The only positive from last night was that they didn't get revenge for the 6 2.
To play Fyvie last night when he hasn't played for weeks was madness.
And to claim we deserved something he either thinks the supporters are stupid or even worse actually believes it.
