Positives

After a number of injuries and no squad, 2 sendings off. I thought Luiz, rudiger, kante, Alonso 2nd half and morata all need congratulating for good performances and a fighting spirit today.

Morata was the positive. You can see way clubs like Juventus & Real wanted him even if only for their benches. Real thoroughbred striker, makes the little things that even some top strikers struggle with seem effortless.

Bar a lengthy injury, regardless how we fair this season he'll bag 20 goals, very confident on that.

Positives: Alonso(2nd half), Azpi, Rudiger, Christensen, Morata.

Luiz way too erratic to be rated as good performance.
Allover the place defending, partially at fault for first goal (although Courtois should rightly bear brunt of the culpability) & third goal free header.
Wayward/aimless distribution (waste of possession).

Willian was so-so.

Willian for me was our best player by far

Too many (careless) misplaced passes for my liking from Willian.

Did produce two great passes (Morata's goal & Christensen) and couple of incisive dribbles but that was the extent of his creativity in 90, which is nowhere good enough when you weigh it up against the amount of times he was loose with possession.
Therefore, doesn't come into contention as our best player on the day for me.

Morata catalyst to turning game in our favour.

Rudiger and Christensen were extremely comfortable going about their defensive duties, cannot recall latter losing/being fazed by defensive duel or faltering on ball under pressure.
Former lost out in headers but strong on ball switching play to wing-backs and generally defended well.

Those 3 names mentioned above in contention.

There's also the factor of Rudiger playing RCB & LCB in three, and RCB in back four through the match.
Christensen played RCB, RB back four(nearly goal came from movement as a RB) and midfield (post Fabregas).

When Morata came on willian finally had a target to find...prior to that he was asked to play the number 10 role (in a team one man down) with a CF who was totally clueless...yet he was relentless in his efforts to make somethig happen...

I have to agree with Shearer that Willian was Chelsea's best player by a country mile.

All I could see is was Willian constantly struggling to find a team-mate with the simplest of passes.

Also don't care for Shearer's opinion to be honest...great striker, rubbish pundit/analyst.
