Tbf Nick, although i agree Mata is overrated, Ashley Cole looks average by that logic (we ran away with two titles before he arrived and 2 more after he left).

what i meant was as an alternative to Fabregas alternate them use Cesc in the walkovers then in tight games bring in mata he has a good eye for a through ball good freekicks (although we are well stacked in freekick takers right now) only minus is hes useless in defence but not worse than cesc.

the two seasons he was with us he was by far our best player so not really his fault the rest of the squad didnt man up. And i dont remember Zola ever winning a premier league either.

Could easily reverse those two statements. Lukaku is a gamble in that he's never lead the line for a club like Man Utd, unlike Morata whose spent his entire career playing for elite football sides (Real, Juventus & Spain). Statistically he also guarantees goals, in minutes played he's averaged 1 in 2 the last five years.

But moot point anyway tbh. This weekend basically proved how each respective player is better off at the club they've signed for. Would be surprised if both didn't get 20 goals this season myself.

God the arguments are poor. Did we ever have a chance of winning a title with zola? Maybe 98/99 but suffered Injuries.

Also how many minutes did mata play for Spain in those tournaments I mean really.

My point is that mata as the main creator in a team does not bear much fruit. I love the guy, one of the best I've seen at the bridge. But for his stamina or whatever reason it just doesn't seem to happen. Maybe this could be his first year but I doubt he will start every game in the league for Utd
