Cant Get Any Worse !!

Totally embarrassing performance again tonight on the road and seriously worrying. Were were outplayed, Outfort and never looked like we were going to get anything out the game. What does Bruce really say to the players before the game ?? Do they actually work on anything on the training ground ?? We look totally lost in games and players look like they have no idea what they are supposed to be doing. Nothing has changed since last season and that's the huge worry. Not a hope in hell we will go up this year, more chance of battling relegation ..

*scored 47 goals, conceded 48. Point is still valid though.

Do you think your ongoing defensive issues now revolve around the "John Terry" factor?

In other words, having such a revered & respected player in your back line, has somehow unnerved or inhibited the players around him; that they're all a little scared of annoying him, or letting him down, primarily because of who he is? (I could be talking complete bobbins because I haven't actually seen your team in action this season)

It should also be noted that Reading's home form has been pretty good (undefeated in 13 or 14 games at home); plus even though you lost 2-1, it wasn't a totally resounding defeat compared to say Cardiff. So there's a few plus points to take away from the game (clutching at straws admittedly)

Never thought he was the man for the job.

A club of Villa's size and stature should be looking at paying big money for a quality continental coach. And then backing him with more big money.

Ought to be up there with Everton and Spurs. Not floundering around losing to Cardiff and Reading.

The Reading game was awful. Watched the whole of it on a live stream. In the first half nearly all the play was in our half; I've never seen such a parking of the bus. It was like a Conference side desperately trying to keep out a PL side. And it wasn't working; Reading were unlucky not to score several. The second half was as bad except for the final few minutes. It was shameful. It was actually worse than Cardiff, even if the score wasn't.

In our first match against Hull the back line looked fine, and I'm sure it will be. In the other two it was exposed by a badly set-up midfield. Whelan has been poor, which doesn't help.

Bruce's signings this summer haven't begun to address our biggest need, a proven striker. Yet only now is he talking about one, because Hogan collected an injury.

To me Bruce has failed in almost every aspect. We actually have some decent players and he hasn't got a clue on how to use them. I want him out asap, hopefully before the Norwich game.

Apparently three games to save his job, although coming from the Star so wouldn't make too much of it.

Personally I'd sack him if we don't beat Norwich. We have to start winning games, simple as. We're already four points off the top six and eight off automatic places (which let's be honest we should be). Failure to win again and for me that should be it.

A young, up-and-coming continental coach would be refreshing. I'd like to see some sort of identity formed at Villa, where we play attacking, possession-based football. Not this drab, long-ball, awful-to-watch football Bruce has us playing. Even if we were winning, it would be turgid to watch, but it's even worse when we're losing every week.

Bruce has to sort it NOW, otherwise show him the exit door. His record speaks for nothing if we're a shambles every game, and the buck comes down to him when he picks players like Agbonlahor who should have been out the club years ago.

Totally agree. We don't want another old-school manager.

I've had enough. Think he should go now. If three games is right, then for me it has to be 3 wins or pretty close. But even then I don't think he's right for the job; he won't change.

agree McParland. His record in this league is great, no denying. But he;s not getting it right for us. A win against Norwich would only paper against the cracks. Unless he changes his style from top to bottom, which won't happen, the same things will keep happening.

Personally I'm gobsmacked why every Villa team since O'Neill left has been so unfit. They don't press, they make silly mistakes at the back due to tiredness, there's just a lack of energy in the team. The first thing you do, as well as making a team resilient, is making a team fit. Football is a strenuous game and to win games you have to be able to get up and down the park at the very minimum. You've seen the effect it's had at Spurs with Poch. And how Leicester's amazing fitness won them the league.

So in my eyes, should Bruce go, the next manager needs to bring along a top fitness coach with him. Get this Villa team fit first and foremost, and things might improve.

Fellas,

I’m as unhappy as anyone about our last 2 performances, but we have to put these results into some perspective. We’re 3 games into the season and we’re talking about changing the manager.

More than anything else, our Club needs some stability. We need to give one of these managers time, even if it is just to lay down some foundations. We will never build anything, or put an end to this continuing nightmare, if we keep changing the manager every time we have a poor run of games.

I don’t want to go through another period where we have no manager, and then end up appointing another foreign disaster like Remi Garde. Steve Bruce is proven, at this level. I think we need to give him time. We have a better chance of getting promotion, this season, by sticking with Bruce.

I’m old enough to remember the last time we were promoted. After 4 games, we had 2 points and fans were calling for Graham Taylor’s head. Look how that turned out.

It's a results business. Changing manager is no big deal, it happens all the time; 6 of the top 9 clubs in the Championship changed manager this summer.

Good managers can come in and have a positive effect. Bruce came in 10 months ago and has failed to deliver. The longer we wait and see the worse the long-term impact on the club will be.
