Iheanacho buy-back clause

Firstly, apologies if this has already been done as an article.

Leicester City's recent signing of Kelechi Iheanacho has a reported buy-back clause in the transfer from Man City to us. How does this work?

We are reported to have signed him for around £25 million pounds.
If Man City want to buy him back................

What would be the fee?
Can they only buy him back if we want to sell?
Can they buy him back if the player wants to go but we don't?
Is there a time frame when we have to sell him back?

I have not read or heard anything regarding the above which seems strange, unless i've just missed it somewhere?

In a Transfer Window where prices for players is unbelievably hyped-up, how can we or Man City put the buy-back price on his head? Or, who does???

Scenario : We buy Kelechi for £25 mill, he scores 22 goals in his 1st season here, great.
2nd season here he scores 26 goals, then, Man City come knocking on the door for the player for £50 million. Double our money, great you say. But in this crazy time in transfer fees being asked, would we be able to say "We want £88 million pounds Man City, take it or leave it?

Can anyone here shed any light on this transfer and all it's conditions?

Whatever the case may be, Good Luck to him whether he scores a shed-load here or not.

As with all clauses like that there'll be a set fee for what they have to pay to get him back.

Real Madrid and Barca often put clauses like these in deals when selling they're young players, just like the one that saw them resign Deulofeu from Everton.

If that's the case, shouldn't the buy-back fee be transparent? Disclosed in the press?

Why would it?

Clubs often don't release details about deals, at the moment there's no reason to worry about them buying him back.

Dunge and I have different views on this one. I see it that we've just took a player who in this market is worth £35m+ and signed him for £25m. That is good business when you look at other signings.

If he plays "decent" for us and helps us in our development, he stays.

If he plays out of his skin, we get 2 seasons out of him delivering great success and a £25m bonus when he goes back to Man City.

It's like a loan, but with benefits. To get a player like Nacho in this market, I'm more than happy to accept that deal.

I thought it was reasonably we'll publisised that it was a 50m buy back?

It basically means that if, at any point during this contract, Man City offer £50m for him, it will automatically mean that they can talk to the player and if terms agreed purchase him for a set fee.

Yes, if he was our player and we were renogiating a new contract for him here, the we would have set out a high buy out clause if the player was insistent on one.

But he was a Man City player and this buy out clause is ultimately the only reason we got him for £25m/if at all from Man city's and perhaps also the player's perspective.

The player also has the option to reject a message be back to City.

Mersey - I'm less concerned if the buy-back clause is £50m. That represents a decent profit, and at a value we would perhaps be willing to accept from any big club anyway.
