Transfer Options

Opinion of Liverpool fans, with us qualifying for the Champions League group stages,do you think potential transfer signings have been waiting for qualification before they might commit to joining us or not?

Don't think CL makes as much of a difference these days. I reckon you could probably get VVD whether you were in the cl or el. Just need to stump up the cash.

Quite possibly.

Either way it can't hurt.

Doubt it. If players like Keita and VVD were convinced we were the right club for them then I doubt they'd have had doubts over our ability to make the groups stages.

Can't hurt (obviously) but I doubt it'll make any difference unfortunately. It appears the barrier in both cases is the club, not the players desire to join.

Wasn't Michael Keane waiting for us to qualify for the CL?

Klopp said he wanted to get business done early doors. Here we are with a week to go with only one additional signing who can be assured of a first team spot going into the CL. It's been a royal fack up of a transfer window and yesterday's result won't change that IMO.

I'm really hoping the Höwedes for €20M rumours are true. I'd be very happy with that!

Of course it makes a difference, why would people upend their entire lives and families to move to another job with exactly the same prospects?

Playing in the CL is a big draw, as would be seeing us addressing squad issues, players and their representatives will be aware of perceived weaknesses and addressing them will also help make us seem a more attractive prospect.

As will having beaten one of the toughest teams in the draw that we had.

You support Liverpool its a bigger draw to you for that reason, than it will be for many many players. Don't be naive, if you were playing for Liverpool in the EL would you leave to play for another EL team in a country with worse weather?, away from your families, friends, culture?

Of course not, so don't expect people in the same position to act differently, we need to offer them something they don't have, generally a combination of better wages better competitions and a better chance of silverware.

Did you fall asleep before the last paragraph?

I went on to say that you need a combination of things including higher wages to attract them.

Would you move away from all your family and friends, support network, home country, culture for a 10% wage rise?

I wouldn't, but a 10% wage rise, and the chance to progress further and win awards I would.

It depends what price you put on such things, and not everyone's will be the same.

Look at Sanchez, we finished higher than arsenal the season before, offered more money, automatic CL qualification. He still went to arsenal because that's where his Mrs wanted to be
