Ricardo Rodríguez

As someone who follows Milan closely and have watched Rodriguez a fair few times in germany, I really can't understand why we weren't in for him. Left back is the weakest position on the pitch for us, Shaw can't attack and is never fit, blind can do a job but even he can't cross anymore, Darmian can't attack and Rojo, well the less said about Rojo at lb the better.

Rodriguez cost Milan about £15m and is so refreshing to see a left back not only wanting to attack but one who actually can attack and put in a brilliant cross.

I really think we have missed a trick with him, we need a new left back desperately and there aren't that many knocking about, I like Danny Rose but he'd cost a fortune, Bertrand is decent Willems looked promising a few years ago but is dross now.

On another note Perisic played brilliantly again last night, such a shame that's dead in the water.

He's got 2 assists and 0 goals in 3 years of football at United. Now assists and goals aren't the first thing you look for in a fullback and I have complimented him defensively. However when you play for a top team, you're going to come against a lot of teams that sit in deep and frustrate you and that's when you need quality at fullback to open the door.

He may have gone on some lung busting runs but nothing ever came from them.

Indeed- although I would agree in a defensive sense he's decent. It's just in attack he's awful, and I don't see anything there that will allow him to improve.

If you combined Shaw's pace and positioning, Darmian's tenacity and Blind's ball work......you'd have a very good left back.

All three offer something but none of them are good enough really. Blind is by far the best footballer, Darmian the better defender and Shaw the pacey one.

Think Shaw gets a hard time on here. He has had 3 managers since the broke into the scene, 2 very pragmatic managers at that, broken his leg and he does have confidence issues.

I think he has shown enough to be given another chance. Let's face it, he can't be worse than Valencia in the final third. I've actually seen him look up before crossing.

Shaw's gonna struggle to get back to the level of fitness we'll need for him to have any effect, in my opinion. He struggled with stamina issues when he hadn't broken his leg.

Very true. How's our genetics department getting on at creating this?

People write a off Shaw as quickly as they did Jones. Before his broken leg he was one of our best players.

Jones was crap for years. He's exceptionally fortunate to be at the club.
