Disclaimer - I only watched the first half via someone showing the game through their phone on periscope so this isn't a full picture of the game.
United were pumped on Saturday and it's set off a few alarm bells within the United support.
From what I saw there was no question that the Buddies were the better team and thoroughly deserved their victory, and it raises questions about the weaknesses in the squad and more importantly the weakness in the dugout.
A few people have raised questions about McKinnon from last season and I've always been inclined to give a manager time. It's a new team and it needs time to gel. However I'm becoming increasingly concerned at his lack of tactical nous and it seems to me we do the same thing every week - start 442, switch to 433 when it's not working then change back to 442 during the second half because we need a goal. There doesn't seem to be anything beyond changes in the base formation.
I'm certainly not calling for him to be sacked or anything daft like that - it's far, far too early for that - but I'm definitely concerned about his ability to set the team up and I'm worried it may ultimately cost us the title, because that should absolutely be our aim this season.
I would hope this international window (I'm discounting the Irn Bru cup game next week as it should be for the kids) allows us to work hard on the tactical side of things and improve our shape.
In terms of transfers, I'm not expecting too much in the next few days. I'd be surprised if anyone moves on and I'd be surprised if anyone comes in - even though I think we need another wide option. I suspect we won't have the budget though.
Final point is on the Dees moving home - it'll be sad if the Dees aren't across the road anymore although I remain sceptical about the proposed move. The suggestion that we'll join them - on their terms, in a ground they don't actually own - should be shot down asap imo. I'm not against a groundshare in theory but not on those terms.

I think it's fantastic that a city the size of Dundee has boasted two European Cup semi-finalists.
Especially when you think that it took London 20+ years and a bloated competition to catch up.
Dundee > London
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Pedantic opportunity not to be missed even though I agree with the sentiment of Dundee European success being brilliant but Hadn't Chelsea, West ham and spurs won the cup winners cup each by 1971?

I should probably read the post properly. I thought that said European semi finalists.

Sorry Ivan but I think we need to bite the bullet and get rid on Mackinnon now.
Not because of a poor result or a poor performance against St Mirren but because the only change from last year are the names on the shirts.
Week in week out the same pathetic performances because he's unable to set his team to dominate games at home.
And has no idea how to change a game.
He maybe has all the badges but he doesn't have the ability to manage our team.

old shed boy - I'm struggling to disagree with you.
I think we need to give him a couple of months but I'm becoming less and less hopeful that he's going to be a success.
