Right so I had somthing of a revelation during the game today. I saw that Arsenals style had changed dramatically over the last few games and initally i thought this was down to a lack of confidence and bad form. But I now have another theory which i think is closer to the button.
Todays team could not have been described as young. Seasoned players such as benayoun arteta sagna mertsacker rvp are experienced players used to playing big games at a high level. Arsenal are typically a young team. When you take a step back and look at it this probably describes the approach. I think its universally agreed that today we were lacking creativity, adventure, boldness and fearlessness. We wernt our usual showy selves always looking for the special killer pass or flick. These are all characterisctics of a young immature team. The benefits of these youthful characreristics are an attractive style of football that is risky and exciting to watch and can produce moments of magic. The downsides?? well as an arsenal fan i dont need to tell you; capitulation, foolish descisions, lack of composure when its needed, lack of tactical discipline.
Today we saw a different arsenal. Its a shame we conceeded such a freak goal becasue it could have emphasised my point. But understand this was not a normal arsenal capitulation where a stupid error or tactical indispline etc cost us the match. We were solid at the back, showed compsure at all times and used experience to kill time etc. The downside was that we were severlly lacking in that youthful exuberance that spark and energy that can turn a game. The adventure to try somthing risky that might pay off.
Now i dont know about you but i believe todays arsenal would be more likely to be successful than the arsenal of recent years. however todays arsenal even playing at full confidence would still not be good enough to win the league and be a top team
Cue Jack Wilshere, the missing piece in the puzzle. He is the youthful spark which will just push arsenal towards the perfect balance of youth and experience that is needed for success. He will add that little bit of adventure that we lacked today. Obviously more confidence of the entire team would help but i really believe we are on the right track finally
i wondered and wondered how arsenal would ever mature. how would we stop being so immature. it seems that inadvertdly wenger has found the answer. by completly revamping the team i thin kwe will be better placed to enjoy sucess.
Just my theory
Youth vs Experience

I think we aren't playing flashy beautiful football because we havent got the calibre if players at the moment. Just my theory.

But then you dont you see the fault in this theory when you realise we have lost just 2 players????
How can 2 players make so much difference? especially when you consider one of them was injured for large parts and never really hit top form.
Stop reading the sun and basing your opionions on that, arsenal havent declinced they are just going through bad run and need to gain confidence.
Again just incase you forgot.. we have lost just 2 players not a whole team. the replacements are not too far away from the ones they are replacing.

well we have lost 3 first teamers. 2 players can make that much different when they were 2 world class players, one being probably the best midfielder in the world.

As well as losing cesc and nasri, wilshere is injured, leaving rvp as our only great passer

"Cue Jack Wilshere"
You have some valid points and I would subscribe to your ideas. However, Wilshere being english is clearly part of why you make such a nonsense statement like "he is the missing piece of the puzzle". He is not that good.... yet. Can we all please leave bias out of our judgements please. Bias makes for idiocy and unreasonable assertions.

Wilshere makes a massive difference though. He's not wrong about that. Without him we dont click as a team, with him i highly doubt we would not gain a lot of creativity
