So as the dust settles on an entertaining transfer window the one story that still keeps me intrigued is the Barkley to Chelsea one. Numerous opinions and views have been banded around but this one seems to be a lot more plausible considering our long term interest in him and remarks by Pleat the other day.
According to an article in The Guardian, Ross changed his mind at the last minute as he was unhappy that Everton refused to enter into negotiations with us on deadline day and he was unhappy that he was basically being shoehorned into going to Chelsea, so did the only thing he thought he could in order to have the right to choose where he ended up. If true I hope to see us back in for him in January as it clearly shows he would of preferred us.

So why wouldn't the Toffees speak with us? Too scared that Levy would do a number on them or had Chelsea put a "exclusivity deal" in place like we did with Aurier?
Thoughts?
The Barkley truth??

Everton would demand £30m for a player that's injured and would still get paid a salary.
I did mention i'd avoid Barkley until January or even next summer on a free. He seems willing to wait and join us.

Why not, they paid 30 for a teenage keeper who let in shed loads last season.

Barkley is caught in a bad situation. Koeman doesn't want him so he wouldn't play. He's injured so he can't play. Chelsea would have played him sparingly and out of position once injury free in December-ish. He's desperate to go to the world cup so needs game time. What does he do? A conundrum indeed!

We better be getting him in Jan or next summer.

Does anyone know why Dier isn't in the squad tonight, seeing as he travelled?

Think he might wander in the wilderness like Joe Hart.
