Arsenal

Arsenal According to BBC Sport journalist David Ornstein.

The Gunners signed Alexandre Lacazette and Sead Kolasinac this summer, spending £52m on the pair.

However, Arsenal missed out on Arsene Wenger’s top target Thomas Lemar.

The Gunners had a £92m bid rejected on deadline day for the Monaco star.

Alexis Sanchez’s Emirates future is still up in the air, with the Chile international out of contract at the end of the season.

And Ornstein says Arsenal didn’t have money for major signings this summer, claiming they are holding back funds for the next two transfer windows.

He told BBC Sport: “My information is that they spent over £50m on the transfer fee of Alexandre Lacazette, a club-record signing.

“When you factor in his salary, a reported £200,000-a-week and the salary of Sead Kolasinac, the left-back who joined on a free transfer, then that eats into a fairly large chunk of that sort of £100-150 am.

I read somewhere that Lacazette wage were £140k per week. Don't know where they got 200K per week.

Also aren't we saving around £400-600k per week on wages with the likes of Szez, Gibbs, Perez, Oxlade, Jenkinson, Campbell ect gone?

So your 150m in the bank has to cover wages? because they wouldnt want that eating into their operating profits would they ? also what about all the players you've shifted freeing up the wage bill?

The cheek on them!

Probably saving money with lack of CL. Even though they said it'd make no difference. Well I suppose it doesn't, because we never spent it anyway!

The 92m on lemar would have got him earlier in the window, but yet...for some reason you waited til the last day, whilst he was on international duty. Hmm...

We never made a 92m bid.

Seems crazy when you have Ozil and Sanchez to walk away for zero in a year that Arsenal will wait another year to spend money!

Club's a mess.

We made a profit on sales and must have been at least close to or saved on salaries with the number of players going out.

The Lemar bid was a joke. A late offer for Sanchez was apparently accepted subject to Arsenal getting Lemar, but Arsenal then pulled the offer claiming there was not enough time to complete the deal.

It stinks of being a smokescreen to hide the fact we never intended to spend more money and it was done purely to try to placate the fans.

Wenger Out, Kronke Out.

I have read in the media that Arsenal's bis of 92m was only to push the price up as it looked as though LFC were signing him. They never really had any intentions of splashing out that kind of outlay. They now hope to go in again at a lower price during the next window.

For me I now think it's too late for Arsenal and Lemar, he will go to a champions league club either LFC or one of the big two from Spain.
