Always you hear fans go on about crosses but am i the only one who is not particularly bothered about it? Ofcourse i'd rather my player's were good at it than not but it's probably the least important skill of top player's. Who are the best crossers of a ball in recent times? Probably Becks and KDB and even they failed/fail to find the target with crosses a lot more than they succeed.
The vast majority of crosses results in surrendering possession and out of the one's that find it's man few translate to a genuine chance and even fewer end up in the net, it's a very low percentage game.
Also to add weight to the argument Chelsea and Spurs were bottom of the cross accuracy table last season but were the top 2 in the table that counts. Honestly if a full back/wingback/winger ticked the boxes i feel are truly required for that position he could be the worst crosser of the ball in history for all i'd care.
Crossing is overrated

stats are awful Chelsea could have 40 crosses a game with 10% accuracy that means 4 accurate crosses where stoke may have 3 crosses 100% accurate if all lead to goals Chelsea win 4-3.

one thing i dont get is how a fantastic passer like cesc Fabregas delivers such awful corners.

99% of the time, crossing is just sideways hoofball

I love the early the crosses or L1 O on the PlayStation. The whip put on the those for an on rushing player is bliss. Tackling is probably the least important skill. You'll never win player of the month or a balon dor for that unfortunately.

What a strange comment.

Across Europe's big leagues, only 1.5% of crosses resulted in goals last season.
But Real Madrid averaged 3.5%, scoring 40 goals from crosses in the process.
I found this article interesting. I first found it posted on this site - Edinspur maybe?

I think one has to differentiate between an aimless "lump it into the mixer" cross and a precision aerial pass. Aimless crossing is too wasteful and is usually used more by less skilful teams/players from lower divisons.

depends on the type of cross.... a low cross whipped across the six yard box is probably one of the most dangerous attacking moves in the game.
