We can blame Wenger all we want, but what exactly does Steve Bould do? Does he even remember that he used to be a top CB for this club and his guidance to some of our young CBs might just be useful?

A Yes man who sits there silently disagreeing with everything but unable to speak up as that would mean him being sacked.

Don't recall Rice being any different. Wenger is power hungry with a massive ego, he probably doesn't allow Bould to have any real input. The way he shot down Gazidis for talking about bringing in a DOF suggests he wants complete control of everything.

For the money he's on I would take that.

Whats the defence performances got to do with Holding? We have been just as bad with Mustafi etc. Its the fecking formation. Been saying from last season this entire for formation is a nonsense. Bin it.

We're crap at defending with three at the back, and we're crap at defending with four at the back.

It's been the case that defenders haven't improved under Wenger for quite some time. Not in terms of their defensive ability, at least.

Bould has spoken about it before. He does the training drills but Wenger has complete control over tactics, formations, etc so he can't influence how the team is set up. He just does what he's told to do.

I give you tactics and formations but I really really doubt that Wenger will insist on telling the players how to defend a corner or free kick.
When we concede a goal because of our high line, then that is the tactics fault (i.e. Wenger). But for the players not knowing where to stand or whom to matk during a corner surely that has to be Bould's job.

We looked very good in the second half because both Maitland Niles and Eleney screened the back 4. Mertesacker and Monreal should be the 3rd CB pairing. In fact I much rather see Holding and Chambers as our no.2 partnership this season.

Go back to 4 at the back. Mustafi/Kos as the 1st. Chambers/Holding as no.2 and Mertesacker/Monreal as the 3rd.

Some so called fans are so blinded by there hatred for Wenger that cannot think rationally. Holding's form has been patchy at best all season. If Wenger hadn't have played Holding there would be those who would have complained that Wenger isn't giving English talent a chance. Wenger played him in the initial premier league games but took him out of the firing line after he had a mare against Leicester and Liverpool. Wenger brought him in for the Europa league game and the same thing has happened. Holding continually gave the ball away, was out of position and was roasted by his opposite number. As much as Wenger has some responsibility for Holding's poor performance, the bulk of it rest surely at the lack of ability of the player in question.

On a similar note, Walcott was shocking yesterday.
