Forest V Wolves Match Thread

Shock breaking news, Henri Lansbury has had his red card rescinded on appeal and will be available for selection against the Reds next week. It was a tackle from behind as well, wouldn't have happened if he was still playing for us now would it?

We last won 3-1 against Wolves in 2013.

Wolves are still missing winger Helder Costa following summer ankle surgery.

The 23-year-old has been sidelined since April 1 with an ankle injury.

He underwent surgery on the problem on July 11 and was ruled out for a further two months.

Winger Costa is now back in training and boss Nuno Espirito Santo said at today's pre-Nottingham Forest press conference that he wasn't far away from making his comeback.

"Yes he's getting closer," Nuno said. "We have to regard all the problems of Helder comes from last season.

"He didn't have a pre-season, he started working, then surgery, he's in the process of coming now.

"He's not totally free of pain but he's making the right steps to be inside the squad as soon as possible."

Defender Willy Boly is expected to be out for another two weeks with a hamstring injury.

Romain Saiss is pushing to return after starting on the bench for the 3-3 draw against Bristol City on Tuesday, a result which denied the Molineux club the chance to move into the top two.

Left-back Barry Douglas has not featured for the past four games, since playing in the 2-1 home defeat by Cardiff.

Wolves have conceded three goals in the last 15 minutes of Championship games this season, the latest of them in Tuesday's 3-3 home draw with Bristol City. Only Sunderland and opponents Forest have conceded more (4).

Roderick Miranda admits Wolves must work on defending set-pieces after conceding two goals from corners against Bristol City.
Miranda wants to cut out the ‘scrappy’ goals they suffered in the 3-3 draw on Tuesday night.

Wolves travel to Nottingham Forest tomorrow and 26-year-old centre-back Miranda wants to tighten up at the back while remaining a potent force going forward.

“Against Bristol City we didn’t have the luck of the game," he said. “We tried to score all game, and we did that, but we also suffered three goals.

“We have to work harder on our set-pieces to try and improve that.

“We need to keep improving and, in the next game, perform the same going forward and defensively do better – not concede the scrappy goals that we did on Tuesday.

“We try to win all of our games. We are doing good but we can always do better."

The £2.5million summer signing from Portuguese club Rio Ave, added: “On Saturday our focus will be that. We will try to win, try to not suffer any goals and try to score as many as possible. That’s our goal."

And Miranda says the squad takes pride in their defending. “I think the credit has to go to the whole team because the defensive work starts with the striker," he said.

“The whole team has to take the credit. Just like when we score, sometimes the move starts from the goalkeeper so that shows how we play as a team.

“We’ve already earned four clean sheets this season but our mentality is to improve on that.

“We try to go through every game without conceding any goals. That’s our mentality going into every match – play a good game, try not to suffer any goals and try to score as much as possible."

Leo Bonatini, Diogo Jota and Danny Batth were on the scoresheet for Nuno Espirito Santo's team who extended their unbeaten run to four matches in all competitions.

But poor defending, particularly from set pieces, cost Wolves dearly in a game they certainly should have won.

This is the team that played against the Robins;

Wolves: Ruddy, Doherty, Vinagre, Neves, Batth (capt), Miranda (Saiss 76), Coady, Jota (Marshall 84), Bonatini, N’Diaye, Cavaleiro (Enobakhare 76).

Forests long term absentees are still out, although Grant has come out of his ankle cast and Cohen is making good progress post opp'.
Vaughan is still a couple of games away according to Tails.

Mancienne suffered a back spasm before Tuesday night's game so may not make the squad.

I expect Barry McKay and Murphy to start and the rest of the team to remain unchanged.

It is a bit of a mystery who Vellios wasn't even on the bench. Showed in pre season he can decent off the bench. I wonder if he has upset Warburton in some way?

Cummings ahead of him and sounds like Warburton rates Walker so not going to have 3 strikers on bench. Personally I'd have Velios as an option.

He scored goals in pre-season and he is pretty decent off the bench at times. I wonder if he is a poor trainer?

Reeboks are fairly poor trainer these days despite being "cool" when I was growing up

I get my trainers from Decathlon, love that shop 👍

Not too disappointed after yesterday. We lack an injection of pace, but two avoidable mistakes led directly to both of their goals.
From where I am it looked like their second goal saved Mills a straight red card.
BB needs dropping from that position.

I don't think Brereton is gaining much from playing in that position. I would rather he came off the bench and replaced Murphy in games.

Maybe when Wards fit, until then it's a choice between him and Cummings?

Unless you play lichaj RB and move Darikwa further forward?

There are a couple of options. Speaking to people who went yesterday, Brereton was doing more work in the Forest half than the opposition's. Can't be developing his game much. I remember Anderson when he was on the right wing under Davies. He was asked to do too much defensively and lost his edge. Hope they don't do the same to Brereton.

The cup game is perfect opportunity to change things up a bit. I would maybe try a tight diamond.

Osborn Edser
Clough
Cummings Brereton
