Yes it was better but Barnsley looked a bit lightweight understandably.
Another clean sheet and not 0=0!!!
Kodja seems ok, Davis is lively and all round was OK.
Great support as always, but still seems and I believe rightly so that for his faults Bruce has been affected by words on here and other media?
We have no divine right to get out of this league but on the flip side we should be giving it a good go with the side we have, but think before you start asking for him out or on last chance saloon
Only downer of the weekend was good old arry going
I really did think he was doing ok.

Goals and a clean sheet...what do we think?

Just about cuts it at this level, will certainly be a tidy lower Premiership level player in a few years though.

I thought we were better team first half. Brain fart from our keeper, and Jackson diving in when he didn't need to. We don't suit playing 1 up front.
As for Ugbo, came on at half time missed a free header and pulled a shot wide when clean through.
Can't stand Bruce. Yet another chequebook manager, just like Redknapp.

Overall reckoned we had a good performance. Largely down to Adomah playing his socks off for the first 60 minutes. That's what we need, players who spell danger up front. Davis was also good like that and deserved his goal. And Kodjia put in a shift even if he wasn't fully match fit.
Still don't think it sorts our problems. Any threat from us was from players taking the initiative, rather than the manager setting up the team to play that way. If in the next half dozen games I see us replicating that edge, I'll start to believe. At the moment, I still can't see more than a mixture of good and poor. But at least there's some good.

Agree 100% McParland. Let's not get too carried away yet: it was a good win but Bruce has yet to show any consistency in the Villa job. We need to get at least 7 points from next 3 games (all winnable) to go into a tough away game at Wolves in October in good form. Bruce is still under pressure in my eyes - those weak draws against Brentford and Boro (when they had 10 for most of game) were dire given the decent win against Norwich and reasonable draw at Bristol, and we cannot keep taking one step forward and two steps back.
Now Kodj is back we have one of the best, if not the best, teams in this division and one that should be climbing the table quickly. There is of course no divine right to get out of this league, but I feel we have the players to do and are pretty strong in area part of the field. So it's down to Bruce to prove that his previous experience can be carried on at Villa - the Barnsley game doesn't change my scepticism of him but let's hope he can build on it and take us forward from now on in.
