Was a crap fight, aye.

I haven't seen it (nor will i probably) but from what i've read Hughie spent a lot of the fight on the backfoot doing nothing and landing pitter patter punches, if you think that's deserving of a win then i'm guessing you thought Canelo eased it against GGG last week.
I love defensive boxing lately but from the sounds of it Hugie just backpedalled from the 2nd round onwards and that's not enough if your trying to win a title.

The counter argument to that is, isn't that what boxing is? Hit and not get hit. He basically just copied Tyson's blueprint against Wlad.
I don't like that style tbh but just playing devils advocate.

Your right Mr C, that's the main thing Hit and not get hit so if Fury was just back peddaling then he's not fulfilling the hit part and if it's Parker that has to come forward and is getting through then imo he's fulfilling the 'controlling the fight' part of judging as well

Fat Hennessey said that Fury was "showing shades of Ali" in there last night

I agree
However there is a very fine line between boxing on the back foot and running. I think Fury crossed the line too far on the side of running. Judges obviously didn't like that. It's clearly a style Peter pushes onto both Tyson and Hughie but doesn't make for great viewing.

That's a fair comment but I'd argue that the point of boxing is actually to prove your superiority over another man my nullifying what they have (not getting hit) and showcasing your skills (hitting).
I've not seen the fight but from what I've read Hughie did plenty of the former and very little of the latter.
It sounds to me like a fight where one man was not prepared to engage (either tactics or lack of ability) and the other man wasn't good enough to force the issue.
