Am I the only one that thinks Celtic were a bit average last night? (Apart from Laudrup )
There has been so much praise heaped on Celtic since the game yesterday. Folk talking as if it was one of our greatest European performances.
From what I saw there was one average team out there and another really really poor team.
So far in this campaign I've seen us play the best team I've ever seen us play in the champions league, and now the worst team I've ever seen us play.
I didn't think we played anywhere near as well as we needed to play. I don't think we would have beaten any of our previous champions league opponents from previous seasons had we played the same way. If the luck flowed Anderlecht's way rather than our way then we could easily be talking about a loss and how sloppy our passing was.
Don't get me wrong, the result was impressive. And I was also impressed with the way we killed the flow of the game in the last half hour or so and didn't let Anderlecht get any momentum. That showed that we are maturing in Europe. But it would be a mistake to think that was an acceptable performance in Europe, it wasn't. We were just fortunate to be up against a team in free fall.

Ahhh!
The old 'we didn't win with panache' thing again.

Just to be clear, I'm fine with the way we won.
I was just curious, given all the plaudits I was hearing, whether I was watching a different game.

Was still a bit harsh to say 'Emperor's new clothes'.

My plaudits were for the result primarily.
Scoring 3 with a clean sheet.
Our 3rd Away win in a very tricky 7 days.
The lads deserved a lot of credit for that IMO.

I thought our performance was first class. Probably our best all round performance yet under Rodgers or any manager for the last thirty years.
Never once troubled defensively and were lethal on the break. What more can you ask for?

' What more can you ask for?'
You just to switch it off for one day?

Agreed mate. I'm actually thinking of filtering him now. I'm just concerned that his other personas might disappear as well.

And I don't dislike him - but you have to watch the match as we were not massively comfortable in the 1st half - that's just a fact and its not designed to take away from a brilliant result.
Nowt to do with panache - more ballnretention
