Blame it on fatigue, not the system!

We were so poor today, and I know so many of you will jump to the conclusion that it was because of the system that we faltered.
Let's not forget we've conquered Tottenham, played decently against Arsenal, and recently beat one of the European giants in their backyard using this system.

We paid the price for our victory over Atletico, and having just a few days to recover, it wasn't a surprise City exploited our weakness, and played us off the park.

Replacing Fabregas in this system is the way forward simply because Fabregas is getting on, and doesn't really impose himself as he should, for the system to work effectively.
However, finding his replacement will be a herculean task, simply because there are not so many players available in the market, with such vision and passing range.

The only player that comes to mind, who can replace Fabregas, and make the system work flawlessly is Varatti.
If Conte can somehow find such a player, this system will be hard to beat.
So, until a replacement is found, we have no choice but to continue to use Fab.

"Fatigue"? The truth is Chelsea were poor yesterday, it didn't help losing Morata which also shows how lacking you are in the striker department.

Excuses!

Playing negative football at home, Chelsea got what they deserved, though it should have been 4-0 in fairness!
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Morata injury was the key. If only Conte had had Jimmy Greaves on the bench.

There's positives to packing the midfield, but the City game was an example of it's negatives. It was also another demonstration of how we don't utilize it as a possession based system, and against possession based sides it puts us on the back foot.

Stand by my assessment I posted about a week ago on an article of yours. It's good to have alternate systems at the ready and the 3-5-1-1 is a good utilization of our players to fulfill specific game plans, but the 3-4-2-1 still has better balance, suits our attacking players better and doesn't depend on one player (i.e. Fabregas) to make it work. If we did buy Verratti, you'd have a lot more weight to your championing of this formation.

Always looking for someone/something to blame! Blame the performance on the field Saturday. Blame the better coaching strategy on the Man. City sideline.
You were beaten on you home ground by a better team and a team that plays just as many games as Chelsea does. Some days Hazard shows up, some days he doesn't, Fabregas is way past his prime and can't play well against the better PL teams.

Mr. Conte your time might be up!

To be fair, the vast majority of Chelsea fans on this site have held their hands up and said they were outplayed on the day.

Unless your "Always looking for someone/something to blame!" statement was aimed specifically at the author, then your broadside has landed pretty wide of the mark this time.

You'd think people would check up on the general ground swell of opinion before delivering their wide of the mark assumptions!

Yes, I was indeed speaking to the author in this instance. However, we all sometimes like to place blame where it does not belong or where it does no good. Chelsea was outplayed and outclassed on Saturday and I must admit that I was very surprised. Somewhere at Chelsea FC there must be a very angry Russian. Have a nice life!

Brummie, I really do feel your pain.
