Very good performance with a disappointing outcome, it was particularly great to see the Scottish players competing so well at that level
I'd rate the team like this.
Gordon 5 - Poor at the first Bayern goal and his kicking was very poor all night.
Lustig 7 - Done a much better job of containing Coman than Gamboa.
Boyata 6 - One awful mistake that ruined an otherwise good performance.
Bitton 7 - Could have done better with the 2nd goal but he had a good game overall, it's nice to have a CB who is so assured on the ball.
Teirney 8.5 - Didn't put a foot wrong going up against a player who has made a lot of top LB's look silly, defensively brilliant and he got forward to support the attack too.
Forrest 9 - His best performance in a Celtic shirt, beat his man time and time again, even has success when they doubled up on him, he did a good shift defensively too. MOTM
McGregor 8 - Took his goal well and was brave on the ball all night in a crowded part of the pitch, on current form he'd be my first choice midfielder.
Brown 7.5 - Good hard working shift from Brown in which he kept his discipline and was always ready to take the ball.
Armstrong 6.5 - Missed a great chance and struggled a bit to get into the game at times, but overall a decent performance.
Sinclair 4 - Disappointing, barely involved in the game and even when he was involved he didn't seem to have any idea's, could maybe do with a 2-3 game rest.
Dembele 6 - Looked dangerous and lively without ever really being able to get through the Bayern defence, his pace and power always made him a threat.
Subs
Rogic 4 - Struggled to get involved much after coming on at 64 mins, he has so much ability but I won't be surprised if he keeps missing out on these big games as he doesn't seem to have the engine to get up and down the pitch for 90 mins.
Griffiths 4 - On for the last 15 minutes, had a good chance to put Mousa in but overhit his pass.
Celtic Player ratings vs Bayern.

I actually rate all our central midfielders, even down to guys like Henderson who cant get a sniff of the first team.
Rogic for me is the most talented, but unfortunately he's also the worst athlete and against the top teams you can't always get away with a player like him.
It's probably Brendan's most difficult decisions each week trying to choose the right combination for each match.
I still really rate Armstrong and I expect him to hit top firm again, but for me McGregor has been our most consistent midfielder this season.

Aye, BR certainly isn't short of options in the middle of the park! Assuming we play 2 genuine wide players, as we do most weeks (from Forrest, Roberts, Sinclair and Hayes), then you're looking at picking 3 from:
Brown
Armstrong
Rogic
McGregor
Ntcham
Kouassi
Bitton
Henderson
Ajer
... with Christie potentially to come back into that mix as well (as I don't see him as a winger).
Tough breaking into that area of the team! ... and some say we should sign McGinn?!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think there's a very good chance Armstrong will be sold, we're overloaded in that area and by only signing a year extension it's clear he's not entirely happy with most likely his contract.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The first four on that list are good. The rest aren't up to it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Same things have been said about the first four, give it a season or two and you might signing a different tune.
I feel like Celtic are playing the long game very well, we seem to doing a good job of bringing in guys who might not be quite good enough yet in preparation for our regular starters leaving eventually, it wont work every time, but I see enough in Ntcham, Kouassi, Ajer and Henderson to say that at least 2 out of 4 could become regular starters in the future.

When did Ntcham fall out of favour? I just assumed he was struggling to settle but a few of you seem to just not rate him. Do you think he'll make it?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I rate his potential very highly, he has all the attributes to eventually fill Scott Brown's place if he's patient enough to bide his time and work hard, i'd say he's already technically better than Brown.
I think his descision making is his biggest weakness at the moment, but that's pretty typical of young players, people forget how young he is coz we spent more than £4m on him.

Depends what you mean by not up to it Magnum. I assume you are maybe talking about in terms of Europe. In scottish league terms they are more than good enough though maybe you wouldn't start with 4 out of those last 5 and be confident of winning a domestic match. They certainly provide cover when we want to change things a little though I do wish we would desist with making 6-7 changes at a time after Europe.

That's what I mean. We need to measure ourselves against the best as opposed to the simply the best

Ach, surely it's way too early to be writing off Ntcham and Kouassi? Still plenty time for both to improve IMO, especially Ntcham.

tbh...I wrote off kouassi after one spectacularly bad pass at dens park. Still have nightmares about it.

Look guys the reality is we should just enjoy being in the CL at the moment for I firmly believe that when the champions route is removed and the number of qualifiying clubs is cut from 16 down to 8 the harsh reality is we will struggle to qualify for the group stages. This move to satisfy the so called big nations with additional automatic qualifying clubs sure leaves a sour taste for the vast majority of clubs across Europe. In the near future there is every chance it will be the Europa pre and not post Christmas for us.
