DUFC News - Csaba Special

There's a new sheriff in town

Dundee United yesterday confirmed the appointment of former Hearts manager Csaba Laszlo as the new manager of the club and I for one am excited to see what the manager can bring to the fold.

He's already started well in my books - telling (retained) assistant Laurie Ellis to go home and kiss his wife goodbye, because for the next 6 months his focus will entirely be on getting United promoted.

A wee bit of background on the manager now:

Although he's Hungarian, he was actually born in Romania and is now 53 years old. Since leaving Hearts he's had a few jobs, having spells in charge of Charleroi in Belgium, the Lithuanian national team, MTK Budapest and latterly Dunajska Streda in Slovakia. His spell at MTK ended after a disagreement about transfer policy, having initially done well at the club, moving the underachievers to a European position. In Slovakia he moved the club from bottom of the league to the brink of Europe, guiding his club to a league record 16 game unbeaten run.

I'm excited to see what he does at the club, he's certainly a better prospect than most of the candidates mentioned and hopefully he lifts the club back into the Premier League.

I said at the beginning of the week that the last two games have shown that we do have a good team and I hope Csaba can get the best out of them.

A good appointment and to congratulations to the club on securing him.

they have managed to avoid what hearts, hibs, st mirren, caley, and utd haven't over the last few years.

they also managed to avoid being so schite and snidey they got liquidated.

fiar play to them, fair play.

Hooray. A good manager and a bit mental, which is always an important trait.
