United recorded yet another win to keep our good run going and, more importantly, it maintains our place at the top of the division after overcoming a resilient Morton team.
I'm really pleased with the win at the weekend. It had banana skin written all over it and had plenty of potential for dropped points. Morton have been a decent side for the last couple of years and our away form has been ropey for most of the season.
It's good to see Billy King in among the goals too. He's been a bit hot and cold this season and I believe his goals at the weekend were his first in the league, so they're a little overdue. The manager clearly likes him though and hopefully he'll kick on from this and find the inconsistency that has alluded him for much of his career.
It's also good to see Scott Fraser continue his excellent form and hopefully he'll stay fit as he's an important cog in our machine.
We are now into a tough run of fixtures over this festive period. We start in Dumfries on Saturday against a buoyant QOTS team who just dismantled the Pars. Stephen Dobbie is in terrific form, having a hand in all the goals at the weekend, and must be contained. We then entertain high flying Livingston the weekend after, before travelling for the televised game to Paisley for the massive, massive game against St Mirren. We then complete our festive fixtures on 2 January with a home tie against Brechin.
I'm not one for making predictions on how we'll do but if we can stay on top of the pile after that run of games then we'll be in a very, very strong position going into the new year.

I don’t really follow lower league football but I remember that guy that used to play for Morton that had long hair in the 90s and I thought it was hilarious because he looked like a girl. Now I can’t remember his/her name. I don’t want to sound mean or nasty but the level of competition in the Championship seems to be at its lowest in many a year. Even pre Hibs/Hearts/Rangers there was always at least one good team up the top winning every game. This year if you have a winning run of 1 game in a row then you’ve basically won the league. I don’t think whoever gets to the play off final will do very well. Rajamaki. Was that her name? Doesn’t sound right.

Marko Rajamaki (sp?) was indeed the chap you were thinking of Mark. Finnish player.
I didn't read the rest of your message because it didn't really matter, but I hope that the Rajamaki issue is cleared up now.

The rest was actually pretty important. It was a football related comment, related to the lower leagues. There was an opinion in there too which is good on forums as it sparks debate. P.s I like how you called it a message and not a comment. Feels more personal.

The reality is I think you will win the league with a few games to spare.
Where Dunfermline lack real quality they got up there on confidence.
St Mirren have the quality (at least at Championship level) but not the strength in depth and when fixture schedules get congested I think you will find Dundee Utd narrowly edging away.
What remains to be seen is if St Mirren will have the big game bottle when it comes to the play offs or if the will be like Falkirk and flounder

I've reread your comment Mark and I actually disagree with the point you were making in that I think there is more competition, but that's because the overall quality is lower.
I don't think we're as good as Hibs were last season, nor are St Mirren, so there's not one outstanding team.
Hopefully Call Sign is right and we push away from the pack, but I think it'll be tight until the end of the season.

Rajamaki played in the same Morton team as Derek McInnes
There was a good wee song about them at Love St in the mid 90's
