All the papers are saying he's off to Southampton.
Matt Le Tissier has just been on the radio stating Walcott is on £140,000 a week and there is no way Southampton will break their wage structure and pay that. (Even with the monies from VVD)
There is no chance that Walcott will take a pay cut.
We need to sell to buy and strengthen the team.
The only teams that can afford those wages are the big teams and none of them would touch him as they dont rate him.
Everton is the only team that will pay those sorts of wages who apparently want him. I don't think West Ham would pay that salary either.
Would Walcott take a wage drop, what do you think.
I reckon we will be stuck with him. £140 grand for sitting on the bench.
This is typical of Arsenal. Let all the good players go and get stuck with Theo.

Exactly my point. Wenger won't buy in Jan unless there is a major injury to defense or we lose lacazette and Giroud to injury.
Like I said, we are in 3 cup competitions. One includes a double header against the champions and the other gives us a chance to qualify for the champions league

Don't see any reason to weaken our squad by selling Walcott, especially since the only other options are Iwobi and Welbeck, who are both dross, and Wenger won't be getting in anyone.

Yeah, but you can't blame little Theo - it's hapless Wenger's fault - I doubt any club thinks Theo is worth £140 grand a week & there is no incentive for him to go. He seems to be happy taking the money and talking a good game off the field, what we are asking him to do is take a massive pay cut so that he can be exposed elsewhere for the limited player that he is.
It's hardly an appetising prospect for little Theo so who can blame him ?

Reckon Wilshere controlled the game well. Ozil was pretty decent as well. Kept good possession. Have to give credit to Sanchez though. World class player pulled it out the bag when needed

Pretty much what I think as well. First half was the best we played for a long time away from home. Nervy at the end against an opponent who wasnt bad.

One of the things fickle fans dont account for is some players need to be playing regularly to get the best out of them. i remember when Bergkamp was 2 to 3 games into a comeback from injury and looking ooor so fickle fans were saying he had lost it and should be dropped. After his 4th or 5th start he was back to his best.
Walcott can be very good but he can also be poor when he is playing regularly. you will normally get the best from him after a few games after a lay off but he will then get a dip in form before returning to better form again. The problem is the ups and downs during his cycles of form and throw in a few injuries and he is inconsistent.

We would be stupid to get rid now.
No-one else we have in the team offers the threat he does from a wide position. He is one of the very few wide players we have that has genuine speed and is a decent finisher.
Selling one of our better goal threats in the hope that Iwobi, Welbeck or Nelson are going to replace what Theo offers the team would be lunacy.
Plus, as has been mentioned, we have a decent chance of getting far in the Europa League and we're into the semi-finals of a domestic cup competition, whilst also fighting for a top 4 spot. We need as many players available as we can possibly get.
Walcott can be extremely frustrating, but selling him would not benefit us in any way right now.

I want to believe Arsene is not stupid enough to sell him but he is not using him at all in any PL games. I’m sure if a good offer comes in we will cash in because that’s what the club does

Then we are doomed.
Despite how mediocre we are, we are still within touching distance of the top 4 and in 3 cup competitions. There is still so much to play for and we have a congested fixture list.
If we cash in, you can bet your bottom dollar we will not replace him and we will be left short. If, say, we were selling him and getting Mahrez (won’t happen but as an example), then I’d be fine with that. But the club are never that proactive.
We also cannot rule out the possibility that Alexis and Özil may leave us. There is literally nothing stopping either of them from signing for a foreign club on the 1st Jan. We would be powerless to prevent them from doing so.
Selling Walcott means we are guaranteed to be losing around 20 goals + assists minimum. I’ve seen some people on social media saying “we’ll be fine if Theo goes, we have Nelson who has looked great”, as if an 18 year old kid whose shown a few flashes of skill and dribbling ability is going to compensate for his loss.
I know we’ve made some horrendous judgement calls over the years, but this January transfer window can make or break our season. We can’t afford to be incompetent.

Theo should be desperate to leave the club but the guy has no desire or fight. Very disappointing if he just stays to not take a wage cut. He's been the biggest waste of time and money, so many times we could have sold him and upgraded but we persisted for over a decade and got no rewards from it. Now he just looks a shadow of the player from a few years ago when we probably could have got 30m for him.
