Molineux on Tuesday January 2nd is where Nuno’s wolf pack get their 2018 campaign under way, they welcome Brentford for a 7.45 kick off.
After Saturday’s hard fought victory at Ashton Gate, Wolves top the table with 58 points, 10 points clear of 2nd placed Derby and 11 clear of 3rd placed Bristol City. However, as both Derby and Bristol play the day before Wolves those margins may well be slightly diminished by kick off time on Tuesday.
Wolves are on a run of 11 games unbeaten having taken 11 points from the last 5 games. They have no injury worries, however club captain Danny Batth is suspended due to his straight red card on Saturday and is therefore unavailable.
Brentford currently occupy 10th position in the league 21 points behind Wolves but are also on an unbeaten run, albeit only 4 games. Brentford possess an undoubted attacking threat and are joint 4th highest goal scorers in the league.
The last time the two sides met the result was a 0-0 draw. It was a good, tight game and we can expect more of the same this time. However, Wolves are seemingly the unstoppable force at the moment and with the home crowd behind them, they must be favourites to take 3 points.
Gem’s prediction: 2-0

There are many clichés in football, "You can't win games without scoring goals" "Points make prizes" etc, etc. But at the end of the day if you want promotion only one word is important - consistency.
Since the start of the season and after 25 games only 5 teams have occupied top spot in the table:
Bristol City
Cardiff
Leeds
Wolves
Sheffield United
Second place in the table has been occupied by 8 teams:
Queens Park Rangers
Wolves
Ipswich
Leeds
Cardiff
Sheffield United
Bristol City
Derby County
Whilst Wolves have spent the last 9 weeks at the top of the table, most of the earlier promotion challengers have faltered or fallen away. Where are they now?
Derby County 2nd
Cardiff City 3rd
Bristol City 4th
Leeds 6th
Sheffield United 7th
Ipswich 11th
QPR 17th
Doing the double? Who cares? As long as we remain consistent auto promotion is guaranteed and there is not a thing that the others can do about it.

Not sure that's correct Gem, both Birmingham and WBA have been just as consistent as us,
see what you're getting at though

Dean Smith has a pretty good record against us as I recall, for both smallsal and Brentford. Will be good to put him in his place tonight. Full house, 3-0, 12 points clear. Beautiful.
